San Diego Community Health Center is currently recruiting for our Interagency Advisory Council and Youth Advisory Council.

These councils bring youth, families, and partner organizations together to guide program activities, support community wellness events, and ensure that our next generations have a meaningful voice in shaping our community. Do you want to help create safe spaces where Native Youth can connect, heal, and grow?

The Gen-I Youth Council is a space for Native youth and young adults (ages 12–24) to connect, lead, and make a difference. Members help plan events, explore culture and wellness, and build leadership skills in a supportive, youth-led environment. The council meets monthly.

The Interagency Advisory Council (IAC) guides the Native Connections Program by advising decisions, supporting collaboration across agencies, and helping implement culturally grounded strategies that improve mental health and wellness for Native youth.

Last month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with UCSD Medical to bring state-of-the-art mammogram services directly to the community — providing essential breast cancer screenings for 15 patients.

This week, our Youth Center team joined the First Annual Native Youth Conference! 🪶

They led hands-on workshops where youth painted mini pots, planted sunflowers, and learned how to make sage bundles with their families. Thank you to the Indian Education Program – San Diego Unified School District for hosting this powerful gathering of Native students, families, and community partners.
