Meet Angela Garcia Machain — a talented and thoughtful behavior therapist who’s been part of our team for just over a year. She brings a calm determination and genuine care to every session, always ready to support in meaningful ways. She also goes above and beyond for her kiddos by creating new activities and putting her natural art skills in play during her sessions.
In her free time, Angela spends her free time hiking local trails and exploring tide pools. Her deep understanding of the work comes from more than just training — it’s personal, and it shows in the way she connects with the families she serves.

🏠 No sensory gym? No problem.
You don’t need fancy tools to support your child’s sensory and movement needs—everyday activities can do the trick!
Movement is essential for all kids, especially those with sensory sensitivities. Try these simple, effective ideas at home:
✔️ Animal walks (bear crawl, crab walk) – build strength, coordination, and body awareness. ✔️ Couch cushion crash zones – provide calming deep pressure input. ✔️ Tug-of-war with a towel – helps with grounding and regulation. ✔️ Laundry basket rides – great for vestibular input and calming the nervous system. ✔️ Pillow squishes – reduce anxiety through gentle pressure. ✔️ Wall push-ups or tunnel crawls – boost strength and coordination. ✔️ Dance party or freeze dance – energize and improve motor planning.
These fun, intentional movements help your child feel more centered, focused, and connected—no gym required!

We’re noticing a shift? 🤔 Lately, we’ve been hearing more and more about companies that are moving away from prioritizing the unique needs of their clients. Instead, some are focusing heavily on bottom-line metrics—like lengthy minimum session durations or imposing strict service hour quotas.
While structure and consistency are important, this one-size-fits-all approach overlooks the most crucial element of effective care: the individual.
At Communication Lab, we stand firm in our commitment to an individualized approach—one that puts the needs of our learners and families first. This means tailoring intervention plans and making decisions based on what’s best for each learner, not what’s most convenient for us or most profitable.
We believe that therapy should be adaptive, responsive, and based on the child’s pace, interests, and well-being. It’s not just about meeting numbers—it’s about truly meeting the child where they are. That’s how growth happens.
To us, the clients come first. Always. 💛

Let’s talk about our “triage” theory and why it matters. 💬✨
One of the core pillars of our neurodiverse-affirming approach is this: regulation before expectation. In the medical world, triage means prioritizing the most urgent needs first. We apply that same thinking to our care model.
Before introducing new demands or goals, we pause and ask: Is this child regulated enough to connect, learn, or grow right now?
If a child is showing signs of dysregulation—whether through big feelings, body language, or behavior—our first job is to support that need, not push past it.
Therapy should feel safe, supportive, and humanizing. 💛 It’s not about checking boxes—it’s about meeting kids where they are and helping them grow into their most authentic selves. That’s real care.

We built Communication Lab to provide tools for caretakers to build a connection with their child so they can freely express themselves and be independent.
We believe that communication is the key to opening endless possibilities. A strong connection is a foundation and gateway to meaningful relationships. We built Communication Lab to provide tools for caretakers to build a connection with their child so they can freely express themselves and be independent.
Establishing a connection with a child with autism can be difficult. Our focus is on improving all aspects of life for families that we work with. We empower caregivers by providing tools to manage any situation through direct care, oversight, and supervision of children and therapists, caregiver coaching and consultation, and conduct analysis-based assessments.
Our vision is based on the collaborative relationship between our Communication Lab team and the families we serve. We choose to be scientific and meticulous in our approach which allows us to build new behaviors that will lead to improved communication, a strong connection, and a deeper understanding between caregivers and their children. Life should always be fulfilling and rewarding.
Our founding team has over 20 years of combined experience in behavioral therapy, education, and medical technology. We’ve spent countless hours observing communication struggles between a caregiver and child where the result is the bond between them is adversely affected. Our programs focus on improving communication including expressing oneself, listening to others, and understanding the complexity of language. We base our decisions on a systematic analysis of our data and constantly discover and analyze new data to help us set personalized goals, leading to a higher rate of successful outcomes.
We’re constantly working on new tools and updating our programs to meet the highest compliance standard of excellence. We look forward to working with you in the future and hope you choose to work with us.
