As SRS2025 wraps up, this year’s Society of Robotic Surgery annual meeting will be remembered for shining the spotlight on the rapid advances in remote surgery. LivsMed is proud to have stepped up—front and center—in that discussion, with the introduction of STARK™, our first, and the world’s newest, telesurgery-native robotic system.
During SRS2025, we presented the results of an early feasibility wet-lab study held on July 1. Conducted in conjunction with Sovato, this study demonstrated the viability of long-distance telesurgery using the STARK platform. Live procedures were performed with the surgeon console in Santa Barbara, CA, and the STARK robot in Chicago, IL.
Yes, remote surgery is impressive—but true democratization hinges on affordability. As LivsMed’s founder and CEO, Jung Joo Lee, Ph.D., says: “An innovation cannot be called an innovation unless it can reach the masses.” By addressing the critical challenge of affordability, LivsMed is enabling, for the first time, the true democratization of robotic surgery.
This remarkable week also included key presentations: Dr. Shirin Razdan spoke on Innovations in Renal Surgery Using LivsMed ArtiSential Instruments, and Dr. Yoonsuk Lee on LivsMed: From ArtiSential to STARK. Finally, in the exhibit area, guests had a hands-on opportunity to experience ArtiSential, our line of handheld robotic instruments that deliver the dexterity of robotic surgery at a fraction of the cost, and ArtiSeal®, the world’s first and only 90° articulating, double-jointed vessel sealer.
All in all, it was quite a week—and as our President, Karl Im, has said: We’re excited to help shape a future where innovative surgical care is within everyone’s reach.
