Screening to Care’s Summer Wellness Event was in August. The families of Escondido Union School District middle school students were invited to participate in DIY craft activities such as painting their own t-shirts. These families also attended the first parent advisory group where our parent partners/outreach workers presented information about our program and the support we offer. Backpacks were distributed and opportunity drawing items were given away to the families to encourage them to spend time together. On National Parents Day, we want to thank the families of our program participants for their patience and dedication. Their support makes a world of difference to our clients. We want to acknowledge one such set of parents in this post- Amparo and Nolito Laberinto. Their son, Noel, who has developmental and intellectual disabilities, has been a program participant at Vista Hill’s Stein Education Center (SEC) for the last 20 years. Amparo and Nolito are happy that their son is thriving at the Stein Education Center – Adult Services. “These wonderful staff have made all the difference in nurturing Noel to his best potential,” Amparo says.

On National Camera Day and in honor of Disability Pride Month (July), we would like to share a chilling and thrilling video created by our SEC - Chula Vista facility program participants. We are so proud of our program participants’ creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm. We also wanted to express our gratitude to Las Primeras for their grant, which helped us buy supplies for SEC film projects.
