Guillain Barre Recovery Essentials Chronic health conditions keep us from living the life we want. Helping you regain that ability is my mission.

I offer courses for self-directed healing and 1:1 consultations for in-depth guidance. Guillain Barre is a potentially life-threatening condition where the body's immune system attacks it's own peripheral nerves. According to the textbooks it resolves and completely recovers in 6-12 months yet many people are left suffering from it's effects for years and years. Using updated scientific research and understanding of viral infections, immune response and nerve biology, this page is dedicated to providing the resources that are essential to the recovery of our peripheral nerves and livelihood they provide.

Some days are better than others but on a whole we are moving upwards. Effort never goes unaccounted, however seemingly insignificant. Give it your best 💪.

"Sutra" means a thread or line that holds things together and is derived from the verbal root siv-, meaning to sew, as does the medical term "suture". This chant is a healing one to literally thread the heart together, relieving suffering we all face on this planet. Many of us who have survived and live with the ongoing neurological symptoms of have undoubtedly suffered. May this song find you in the place you find yourself 🙏

I am working hard on a course for people with GBS. It will include:

1. Managing inflammation that is present post-immune attack (esp of the nerve roots)
2. Fixing oxidative stress and antioxidant balance
3. Repairing mitochondria
4. Clearing the myelin debris that inhibits growth of new myelin
5. Creating an environment for new myelin to grow efficiently

What else would you like to know about? What questions about the course might you have?

In conditions involving myelin damage, such as Guillain Barre syndrome, the fat-soluble antioxidants are depleted the most. This makes sense as it is the oxidative stress from the immune system directed at the fatty myelin sheath that is primarily responsible for motor/sensory symptoms in GBS.

Under normal conditions mitochondria produce potentially damaging oxidative free radicles. Our body has an antioxidant system to balance these normal free radicles.

But viral infections cause an immune response that depletes our antioxidants. Before rebuilding mitochondria, it’s important to replenish our antioxidants.

The single most important thing to healing from nerve dysfunction is mitochondria. The power plants of the nerve cells that keeps the lights on and information flowing. Viral infections are known to commonly impair mitochondria.

My life was completely changed in a matter of days. I was exposed to Covid in Jan 2022. It hit me pretty hard. I never expected that a couple weeks later I would barely be able to walk. And the short distance I could cover was not pretty. I was a very healthy and a very able martial artist. This was a shock to my world. I got a nerve conduction study, the results were in line with Guillain Barre syndrome. The time course and clinical features were enough for me to decide I was suffering from GBS. From the abdomen down I could hardly feel anything and was very very weak. And what I'm less excited to share was the weakness I felt in my bladder and stools.

I needed something to change fast. The "time course" for GBS ranges from 6-12 months. The sooner the better. So I began learning everything I could about demyelination and remyelination, the consequences widespread infectious and immune responses have on our cells/biochemistry and how to support our repair mechanisms.

I didn't want to suffer like this any longer than I had to. I wanted to have the most complete recovery I could. Knowing that there are other people suffering like me and in many instances far worse than me with a medical system that may not be providing much support in the Chronic stages (CIDP), I would dedicate myself to sharing in information from updated high-quality research, clinical education from experienced clinicians and gleaning the experiences of other from different support groups.

This page is where I will be sharing the distillation of all the information I've compiled. I encourage you to follow, like, share and comment/ask questions on any topic you would like me to elaborate on. I thank you for visiting and may healing bless all who suffer 🙏
