A family vacation in Hawaii took an alarming turn for San Diego resident Abhi Adappa when he suffered a severe neck injury while boogie boarding. Facing the risk of paralysis, his care team at Scripps coordinated from afar to safely bring him home for surgery. "It was very clear in my mind that I wanted to have the surgery back home in San Diego, where I have my whole support system."
