Sometimes we have to get outside of our comfort zone in order to gain a fresh perspective on the life we are living and the impact that we are making on the world. I recently journeyed to the Amazon Rainforest of Iquitos, Peru. I was a guest along with 12 others at Amaru Spirit, a Plant Medicine retreat of extraordinary beauty. My humble "Tambo" (cottage) in the rainforest served as a most magical center for experiencing an inner journey of Cosmic Awakening to My Self in this world. In this time of wonder and exploration of "True Self" venture into the "woods where there is no path, with no map" and realize that you are found. Blessings of Peace, Love, and Prosperity to All. The New Science of Quantum Physics is completing us in our eons long journey in reconnecting to our sacred selves. This bridge of understanding brings us safely back together, "Yin and Yang", in embracing our Spiritual and Scientific selves. We no longer need dwell in the illusion of "either/or" dualism. What we all are experiencing now, all around the world, is a shift in perspective away from a material centric reality toward the more expansive energetic model of creation. It is nothing new, but what is new is our attention to this model of understanding and our willingness to accept it. The growing awareness and reaction to this energetic model bodes well for us humans, and for our precious Earth, as we become better able to claim our true power as a species and, hopefully, take greater responsibility for our role as co-creators in life. Our joys and our pains are of our own making. A great example of this, in part, is seen in a changing attitude toward substance abuse and mental health treatment. It has become clear that the causes for addiction, and their devastating effects on the individual and society, are not rooted in the substance abused, but rather they are buried beneath that insidious behavior. All addictive behavior is an attempt to remedy a root cause, or causes. The motivation or energy of substance abuse is pre-matierial. The substance abused comes later. Everyone has the ability to experience addictive behavior, but not all of us have a need to remedy some painful underlying condition. Evolutionary author Gabor Mate writes, "Ask not why the addiction, but rather why the pain?" Our continuing observance of the energetic model of recovery will accelerate our ongoing efforts to facilitate success in treating substance abuse and mental illness.
