*Please proceed with care: if you have been impacted by breast cancer this post may be triggering. Choose what is best for you.
I entered my journey with breast cancer with the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “Awareness” that word that grabbed me and called me to share my story.
That word, now a month in, has my attention even more.
Early on in this journey I thought all would be revealed quickly – that I would get my full plan and know the path. I found myself preparing for, planning it out.
Now, I more clearly see that breast cancer itself asks for the true embodiment of "Awareness."
Awareness doesn’t ask for knowing it all and working it all out in advance.
Awareness asks for presence in the moment, asks for a check in with what is known, what is felt… right now.
Awareness led me to seek a second opinion, it allowed me a very different experience.
Awareness allowed me to know, I found my team. One that saw me as a whole person with breast cancer. A team that has followed up and demonstrated their support.
Awareness allowed me to notice and enjoy all the magic moments that have happened since biopsy. Each of you have offered me a moment of joy in this time, for that I am truly grateful.
As I am now understanding, breast cancer treatment is revealed one scan, one step at a time.
In this process my hope for all of us here is that we can embody this grand lesson – to allow rather than plan for… that we can be in this moment.
That we can truly be "Aware". That we can embrace Awareness of right now. The ability to trust and allow it all to unfold one breath at a time. Organically. Trusting that magic moments will be there too.
Much love to you.
Thank you for being a part of my journey now and along life’s path. Namaste.
