Across our continent, immigrant families are living with rising fear and anxiety. The threat of raids, detentions, family separations, and harmful policies has created a climate of uncertainty and isolation. Behind the headlines are parents, children, and entire communities doing their best to survive, contribute, and stay connected.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am bound by an ethical code of conduct to promote social justice and protect the dignity and worth of every person. What is happening across the United States — the criminalization of migration, the targeting of families, the inhumane treatment of vulnerable people — is not just a legal issue. It is a moral one. It directly contradicts the values of compassion, equity, and human rights that guide my profession and my humanity.
Now more than ever, we must stand with our immigrant neighbors. We must show up — with empathy, with courage, and with practical support. Whether you’re an immigrant seeking resources or an ally looking for ways to help, you are not alone. Together, we rise.
