Wish you all a blessed Mother’s Day ❤️🤗🙏!
Two mothers, one message. I was raised by a very pragmatic mother, my dear Aai. After getting married, I moved to Vancouver, Canada in June of 1993. First big Hindu festival to come was Shri Ganesh Chaturthi, my husband wanted to start celebrating this festival at home as a married couple. We called my MIL to get her advice. Her first advice was that our Nagpur cousins celebrate it so there is no need to start new things, but since we wanted to celebrate it she suggested we start it with a ‘sankalpa’ (intention) of celebrating it, whenever we can, as many days as we can with no strings attached. So we started celebrating it with best intention. This was a very important lesson which taught us two things:
1. If the intention is pure, dogma/orthodoxy can be eliminated and actions are taken with love and surrender.
2. We can take guilt free actions. Recently when we were planning for our daughter’s engagement, finding auspicious day trying to accommodate first family on both sides and her vacation was a challenging jigsaw puzzle. So it happened the most suitable day was on Shri Ganesh Chaturthi day. In last 30 years we didn’t miss a single year to celebrate Shri Ganesh Chaturthi at home. But this time we took a pragmatic decision not to postpone engagement but instead seek Shri Ganesha’s blessings on that day.
Both Aai’s in my life have shown the pragmatic and guilt free way of living. It’s divine mother’s blessing to have them as my mother and mother in law 🙏.
This pic is rare as I am with both of them and was taken in Nov 2024 in my daughter’s wedding.
