Literacy Advocates we need your help!! This Giving Tuesday (12/2) our goal is provide 5,000 books for children by midnight! Your support will be doubled thanks to a matching donor.

We've chosen the book "Be You!" by Peter H. Reynolds for this year's campaign because it beautifully celebrates how each child is unique and special.

You may have already received an appeal letter from National Reach Out and Read and we will receive that donation OR you may donate directly now. Thank you for your wonderful support this year and we hope you'll consider one last time before the holidays.

November is Child Safety and Protection Month!

Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment, and together, we can make that happen. Throughout this month, we’ll be sharing a 4-part safety series to help families stay informed and proactive when it comes to protecting our little ones.

For the final week, we’re focusing Outdoor Safety, because there is scientific evidence that playing outside improves health, and we want them to play outside safely.

Here are some things parents may not always consider for outdoor play:
✅Avoid mowing the lawn when children are playing
✅Learn how to remove a tick
✅ Anchor large home playground equipment deeply and securely to avoid tipping.

Next up in our safety series is Water Safety for Infants & Toddlers.

Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1–4. Constant supervision and simple precautions can save lives.

Keep kids safe around any water source: pools, bathtubs, buckets, fountains, and even kiddie pools.

✅ Always supervise children closely; stay within arm’s reach of toddlers and infants.
✅ Empty and store all containers after use.
✅ Keep distractions away; stay focused while kids are in or near water.

Together, we can make every splash a safe one.

November is Child Safety and Protection Month!

This week, we’re focusing on Safety Proofing because injuries at home are the leading cause of death in children under age four—and most of them are preventable

Here are some things parents may not always think of when safety proofing their home:
✅Keep all medications (including those you might carry in your purse) out of reach
✅Research which houseplants may be harmful (applies to pets too!)
✅Know which items in your home have button or lithium coin batteries
✅If you own a gun, store it unloaded in a locked case, with the ammunition locked in a separate location
✅Never put chairs, sofas, low tables or anything else a child might climb on in front of a window
