New National Policy Update! With 6,400 tickets written last year for smoking on public transit, exposure to secondhand smoke and thirdhand smoke residue remains a persistent challenge on public transit in Chicago. In response, Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order to strengthen the enforcement efforts for existing no-smoking regulations, working in coordination with other government agencies.
