Let me start by saying that lasers are not the gold standard for treating skin cancer. Surgery is. That being said, laser can sometimes be an option when patients are poor surgical candidates. We've been treating basal cell carcinoma with the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for over a decade. It has a 90% clearance rate after only 1 treatment. In this study, we investigated the long-term recurrence of this technique. We found that 97% of tumors were clinically clear at 1 year. The only tumor that recurred was in a patient who was immunocompromised. This study supports the use of the 1064 nm laser for BCC in patients who are elderly or poor surgical candidates. This treatment is not meant for patients who simply want to avoid a surgical scar.

2016 was early in my career and I spent most of the year pregnant. My focus was establishing myself in the field & was definitely a workaholic. The most memorable day of my life was the day my daughter was born. She will always be my greatest accomplishment. I am so grateful for the last 10 years & I’m excited for this next phase of my life. Happy New Year!
Sharing a recipe that was so fun to make and even more fun to eat!

* 6 large hard-cooked eggs, chopped
* 2 tablespoons sour cream
* 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
* 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
* Cooking spray
* 1 cup finely chopped red onion, rinsed and dried
* 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
* 1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh chives
* 2 ounces black caviar (I used 3.5 oz)
* Water crackers
Stir together chopped eggs, sour cream, mayonnaise, and salt in a medium bowl. Lightly grease a 6-inch ring mold with cooking spray. Spoon egg mixture evenly on bottom of prepared ring mold. Top evenly with onion. Stir together cream cheese and chives in a bowl, and gently spread over onion; top with black caviar. Refrigerate 2 hours. Unmold onto a serving plate or platter, and serve with crackers.
