Ashley Cox, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Therapy with faith for teens, college and young women with intense anxiety & sadness using CBT & EMDR

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern with over 3 years of experience working with children, pre-teens, teenagers, and college students. I regularly address issues regarding family transitions, difficulty with parenting, and struggles with relationships. I integrate a strengths-based approach to bring the best out of each client and family as we work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, and self-worth. I have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, youth outpatient agency and church groups. I enjoy clients that are open and ready to seek change for the better. I believe that everyone needs to know that someone is in their corner...a safe place to feel heard. I utilize open communication, empowerment, and play to establish connection and foster growth. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore the way in which reducing negative thoughts promotes healing. I am open to integrate the faith of the individual or family into the work that we do together. If you feel that your child or teen is in need of a safe place to explore and grow, I would be delighted to join you in the journey!

It takes courage to change. 🧠
It takes courage to move forward and believe for something new 🌟

When we choose to become the next best version of ourselves, we choose to be brave.

The Lord helps us in the journey. He makes it possible to grow, to kick off mediocrity and strive for more! 🏆

He prunes away what no longer works and brings healing for the new. ❤️‍🩹

It takes courage - be made new in Him and with help ❤️

You can be kind and have boundaries.
You can be faithful and say no.
You can care deeply without carrying everyone else’s emotions.

If you feel anxious, guilty, or selfish every time you try to set a boundary—you’re not broken. You were never taught how to do this safely.

Rooted & Free is a 10-session individual therapy program for college-age women who struggle with anxiety, people-pleasing, and codependent patterns.

Have you ever tried to make something happen in what you thought was the right time? How did that work for you?

Whether we know it or not, sometimes we try to play God.
We try to make good things happen before their timing.
We try to force something before it’s ready.
We try to fix something that can’t be fixed in that way.

I would encourage you to pause in those moments and ask yourself a really important question – do I believe that God is good?

If you were really good, you would wait on his timing instead of forcing your own. We can have the best intentions and still take the wrong steps.

Trust that the Lord will make everything come together in a timing that is perfect. Whether or not it makes sense to you doesn’t matter.

Surrender and trust the process. ❤️

🧠💛 Your Mental Health Matters — Here’s Why

We tend to power through life’s demands, wearing stress like a badge of honor. But your mental health isn’t optional. It’s foundational. Here’s why it deserves your care and attention:

✨ Clarity & Focus – A healthy mind helps you think clearly, make better decisions, and stay grounded in the chaos.
💬 Stronger Relationships – When you care for your inner world, you show up more fully in your outer world—with empathy, patience, and connection.
🛌 Better Sleep & Energy – Mental well-being reduces anxiety and stress that can steal your rest and energy.
🛡️ Resilience – Therapy, mindfulness, and rest strengthen your ability to bounce back from life’s challenges.
🌱 Personal Growth – Mental wellness allows you to explore your goals, set healthy boundaries, and become the version of you that feels most whole.

You care for your body, your career, your home—your mind deserves that same devotion.

📍Need support? It’s okay to ask for help. Therapy is not just for crises—it’s for growth, healing, and clarity.

Therapy starts with the relationship. ✨
You can make progress when you feel safe enough to open up and share hard stuff. Our job is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and also challenged to go deeper and consider new ideas 💡

We see things you may not…we have a different view and can point out a blind spot in your life. THEN, we can work towards healing and a transformed understanding and new behavior!

Here’s to a better life ♥️🙌

I work with clients all over California ☀️!!
The right fit with a therapist is the #1 healing factor in therapy.
Methods matter but can be less effective if you don’t feel connected. It’s hard to open up if you feel like your therapist just doesn’t get you.

So many of my clients came to me because of my ability to weave faith into our focus.

This is real Christian therapy without any judgement. We have all fallen short but we have all been given a way forward.
I can be a guide and sounding board and we share a lens of faith that God is with you 🙏

Life can shake 🫨 us!! It can be hard or unpredictable but God is always the same.
He is our firm foundation.
He is an our anchor in the storm ⛈️

When you feel shaken, tattered, defeated or overwhelmed, run to Him!

He heals and brings health to your spirit and soul 🙏

When you need to talk, find a professional that shares your faith.
In my sessions, we can pray at the end, talk about the light and darkness, and His wisdom for your life.
