We're serving Chula Vista neighbors with critical illnesses, and soon... their pets, too!🐈🐕

With the Chula Vista Community Foundation's generous support, we will pilot our AniMeals program to serve our clients' pets in partnership with the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

When many struggle to secure food for their furry friends, it pushes our clients to choose between their furry friends and necessary nutrition. Because of the Chula Vista Community Foundation, Chula Vista clients won't have to make those difficult decisions. Thank you, Chula Vista Community Foundation! 🫶

Celebrating our Veterans with the Mayor of Chula Vista!

In honor of Military Appreciation Month, Chula Vista Mayor John McCann stopped by Mama’s Kitchen yesterday to visit with our CEO, Eva Matthews, and President-Elect April Heinze, a 23-year Navy veteran. His visit helped celebrate and shine a light on the healing nutrition we provide to veteran clients across our community.

Last year, Mama's Kitchen served 362 critically ill veterans, and with San Diego being a city with one of the highest veteran populations, we know there is more to do. We are grateful for Mayor McCann’s support as we continue working to better serve the veterans who have served our country.

🌶️ We turned up the heat last weekend🌶️

On Saturday, our team participated in the North Park Salsa Fest against 16 competitors and brought home the coveted "Spirit of the Fest" award!

We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this community event to fund programs for Jefferson Elementary. We look forward to bringing our best next year!

🚗 This volunteer group truly delivered! 🚗

Last week, we were honored to welcome volunteers from the US Grant + Marriott International team. They delivered to 44 critically ill San Diegans across three routes totaling over 350 meals!

Thank you to everyone who dedicated time out of their Friday to ensure our neighbors received the healing nutrition they need. We hope to see you again soon! 🫶

For many years, Mama’s Kitchen has recognized March 31st as a day to honor the farm worker movement. While the holiday was originally named for one individual, its true meaning has always been broader, recognizing all those who have sacrificed and worked tirelessly to advance the rights, safety, and dignity of farm workers.

At Mama’s Kitchen, every meal we prepare is made possible by farm workers who grow, harvest, and process the fresh ingredients we rely on. From there, our mission continues, transforming that food into medically tailored meals that support the health, stability, and well-being of our community members facing serious illness.

Today, we are proud to observe Farmworkers Day. We stand in gratitude for those who sustain our food system, and we stand firmly against exploitation and violence in all forms.

Did you know that over the past year, for the first time, we partnered with the local nonprofit Resounding Joy to offer music therapy sessions for our senior clients?

With funding from the Prebys Foundation, Resounding Joy brought music, connection, and joy to our senior clients across San Diego County through free 8-week music sessions led by trained music therapists and musicians.

We are excited to begin our second year of partnership with them!
