Mama's Kitchen OUR MISSION: Mama’s Kitchen believes that everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life We have over 1,000 awesome volunteers who make this happen.

Mama's Kitchen cooks, packages, and delivers food at no cost to folks in San Diego County who are too ill to shop and cook. We also run a food pantry on-site at our facility on Home Avenue in San Diego. Please visit our website at www.mamaskitchen.org

Mama's Kitchen holds several fundraisers throughout the year:
-Mama's Day, held the Friday before Mother's Day each year, is a restaurant tasting with over 55 participating restaurants who prepare signature dishes for our guests.
- Mama's Pies, our Thanksgiving fundraiser. Starting in October, our supporters sell Thanksgiving pies to their family, friends and co-workers, who then pick up their pies throughout San Diego County on the day before Thanksgiving.
-Tree of Life, commemorating World AIDS Day, is held every year on December 1st at Village Hillcrest, with a candlelight vigil and tree lighting ceremony.

Every year, the San Diego community continues to astound us with its ability to come together to support those who need it most.

This is the season where many celebrate and support their family and friends. We are so grateful that our supporters have opened their hearts for our San Diego Neighbors with critical illnesses.

Recently, we were the recipients of a $5,000 donation from Smart & Final!

Mama's Kitchen was 1 of 4 local organizations to be funded through Smart & Final's Charitable Foundation. This donation was made in celebration of the opening of their new store in Sports Arena.

During the presentation, we were also able to meet with store executives and see their brand-new store layout. Thank you, Smart & Final, for your commitment to giving back to the community you do business in!

Mama's Kitchen is honored to be part of Bahia Resort Hotel's Annual Jingle Belle Family Cruise for the third year in a row!

Thank you to Mission Fed for supporting us with a $10,000 grant through their "Community is Everything" Fund. 💖

We were honored to be selected as one of the 2025 recipients out of over 200 applications! Today, they visited for a tour of our facility and to see the magnitude of our work firsthand.

This grant will greatly impact our ability to serve San Diego County as we look to serve over 900,000 medically tailored meals this fiscal year.

At Mission Fed, supporting their community is at the heart of what they do, and we are proud to be supported by such an impactful organization that recognizes the value in our work.

Last week, we welcomed the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus, who helped us prep our bags that go to clients!

The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus has not only volunteered with us many times over the years, but they are also the beautiful voices that grace our annual Tree of Life Ceremony. The event last week truly wouldn't have been the same without them.

Our Story

Mama’s Kitchen, a community-driven organization, believes that everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life — nutritious food. Our nutrition services improve the lives of women, men, and children vulnerable to hunger due to HIV, cancer, or other critical illnesses.

- Our Home Delivered Meal Program provides three medically-tailored meals a day, 7 days a week, to our critically ill neighbors and their children.

- Our food pantry offers a monthly grocery shopping opportunity to low-income, HIV-positive residents, with fresh produce, lean proteins and nutrient-dense food choices.

- Our medical nutrition program provides intensive nutrition education and counseling from our registered dietitian, so that clients learn to self-manage their dietary needs.
