Missed parish tonight? Lead your family on a digital pilgrimage. ⛪️

If you couldn't make it to your local church, bring the reverence of the Abbey into your home. Join the Norbertines of St. Michael’s Abbey () for a deeply prayerful meditation on the Way of the Cross.

Fr. Ambrose leads this traditional devotion with the solemnity it deserves.

Pray along—only 15-20 mins. Gather the family, dim the lights, and walk with Him: 👇

The Roadmap for Catholic Fatherhood: Mastering the Stations of the Cross ✝️

Dads, your spiritual "operating manual" for sacrificial leadership? It’s hanging on your parish walls.

The Stations of the Cross (Via Crucis) isn't just a Lenten ritual—it's a 14-step masterclass in carrying burdens, shielding your family, and following Christ to victory.

Why arm yourself with this devotion:
📍 Visual Catechesis: Kids grasp salvation before they can even read. Simon teaches service; Jesus’ falls teach resilience. It’s a "living picture book" of the Faith.

📍 Spiritual Leadership: Guide your family from the Praetorium to the Tomb, embodying the call to "take up your cross." Walk the path; don’t just preach it.

📍 Indulgence Power: Among the richest in Church history—plenary and partial graces for souls (yours, your kids', or the deceased).

The 14 Stations:
1. Jesus is condemned.
2. Jesus receives His cross.
3. First fall.
4. Meets His Mother.
5. Simon helps carry the cross.
6. Veronica wipes Jesus’ face.
7. Second fall.
8. Meets the women.
9. Third fall.
10. Jesus is stripped.
11. Jesus is nailed to the cross.
12. Jesus dies.
13. Body taken down.
14. Body laid in the tomb.

How to lead your family:
* Movement: Walking station-to-station keeps kids engaged.

* Brevity: 15–20 mins max to respect the "little ones'" attention spans.

* Relatability: Jesus’ falls = parenting stresses; the Cross = family duties.

The Stations end at the tomb—but we pray them knowing we rise with Him. This Lent, don't just watch. Lead the pilgrimage. Show your family what following the King looks like.

The Neuroscience of Grace: Why Daily Mass Calms the Mind & Spirit Like Nothing Else

Catholic dads, research shows we average 2+ hours daily on social media and news—overloading our minds with stress & distraction. Instead, invest just 30-45 min at Daily Mass: boosts serotonin for mood stability, dopamine for motivation & reward, reduces cortisol for calm.

As the Eucharist nourishes our souls, it brings true healing—drawing us into Christ's Real Presence for deeper peace and renewal. "Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." (Psalm 34:8) In receiving Him, we experience God's goodness firsthand, strengthening our relationship with Him amid the temporal busyness of our world, while preparing our souls for eternal life.

Join today's Mass and let the Eucharist renew your mind and spirit.

(Continuing our Lent journey—pair this with our chant series for focused prayer and reflection!)

This song has always been a compass for my work in helping others.

To be an "ambassador" means seeing through the eyes of the One who sent you. Like the (Luke 10:25-37), it is a reminder to see the soul, not just the struggle—and to pray for the grace of healing and reconnection in all our relationships.

"Give me Your eyes for just one second..."

Starting the journey today.

Lord, grant us the courage to step out of the shadows and into this "favorable spiritual season" of pardon. Whether we are raising little ones, guiding grandchildren, or parenting from afar, may we, like St. Joseph, foster our families with quiet strength.

As St. Paul teaches, "We are therefore ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making his appeal through us" (2 Cor 5:20). Guide us to the Sacrament of Reconciliation for true renewal, that we may be "ambassadors for our families," reconciled to You.

AMDG.

The Desktop Desert: A Lenten Strategy for the Digital Catholic Dad

Gentlemen,

In the Gospel, the Spirit "drove" Jesus into the wilderness for forty days. He was among wild beasts, yet ministered to by angels. For the modern dad, those "wild beasts" are often found on our screens: the noise of notifications and the digital clutter that erodes our spiritual awareness.

This Lent, let us reclaim our laptops and desktops as an arena for quiet discipline and divine companionship.

1. Creating an "Interior Exile"
St. Augustine describes the true "desert" as the conscience—a hidden inner space where we abide alone with God. To foster this, change your desktop wallpaper to a Desert Landscape (such as Apple’s "The Desert" or a text-free image of the Namib Desert).

Digital Caution: Ensure the image is free of logos or text. Let the silence of the landscape speak, guarding against the seductive pitfalls of media and subliminal ads.

Accessibility Tip: Set a desert image as your phone’s lock screen as well, serving as a constant cue to remain present during family time.

2. Scriptural Anchors & Prayer
Your work equips you for family leadership. Tape a small note with a scriptural reference to your monitor to anchor your gaze:

Weeks 1–3 (Mark 1:12-13): Focus on Christ’s mission and the "angels" that minister to us.

Weeks 4–6 (Luke 4:1-2): Focus on temptation. As Jesus was "full of the Holy Spirit... yet ate nothing," remind yourself to rely on the Word over the "bread" of digital distraction.

The Catholic Dad’s Prayer: Before opening your first email, look at the horizon on your screen:

"Lord Jesus, who faced temptation in the desert, grant me Your Spirit's discipline. Amid this digital wilderness, help me work with integrity, provide with love, and fix my eyes on the Father's horizon. Amen."

3. The 40-Day Lenten Progression
Weeks 1–2: The Silence. Set the wallpaper and commit to one minute of absolute silence before starting your workday.

Week 3: Intercession. Offer a Hail Mary for digital laborers and those working in isolation, turning your screen into a place of neighborly solidarity.

Weeks 4–6: Desert Fruit. In a private journal, record one "Desert Fruit" per week—a moment where you resisted distraction or chose a patient response. Ask: "How did 'angels' (grace and inspiration) minister to me in the desert today?" * The Fraternal Bridge: Echoing papal Lenten calls to retrench for the poor, link your discipline to almsgiving. Pray for or aid those in "real" wildernesses (the war-torn or homeless), uniting your penance with active charity.

4. Family Extension & Easter Pivot
Involve the Kids: Let them help you choose a "family desert" for a shared device. Explain that you are all praying for dad’s focus and "workday mission" together.

The Easter Reset: On Holy Saturday, perform a digital reset. Replace the desert with a joyful image (e.g., the dawn of the Empty Tomb), celebrating Christ’s Resurrection victory over all "digital tombs."

Take a moment to preview the shifting light of the wilderness below, and envision your workspace as a place of quiet, prayerful resolve this Lent:
