About Sarah Lewis, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and obtained my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work which according to UN News, consistently ranks in the top 10% of graduate social work programs in the nation. Prior to attending graduate school, I attended DePaul University and earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Applied Psychology. At my practice, I provide individual and family therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults in San Diego, CA.
After working in a pharmacy for many years throughout college, I transitioned into retail management. After a couple of years in retail management, I decided that not only was it not the right fit for me, but it just was not my passion. I started volunteering for Little Brothers- Friends of the Elderly where I provided companionship to isolated elders in the community. Around this time, I also started volunteering for a su***de prevention hotline. Through my volunteer work I discovered my true passion and I decided to make a career change and pursue my master’s degree in Social Work.
In 2014, I began my social work career. I have worked in community mental health providing on-call emergency crisis services in the community throughout multiple suburbs bordering Chicago’s west side. I provided crisis assessments at schools, emergency rooms, police stations, and I also met with a caseload of adolescent and adult patients weekly for individual and family therapy. Following my time in a community mental health, I worked in a hospital providing individual and group therapy as well as case management services in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels of care for adolescents and adults. Additionally, I was a part of a team of therapists that provided a new treatment program for young adults ages 18-25. Along with direct care to patients, I conducted intake assessments to evaluate the most appropriate treatment recommendations for patients.
During my time at the hospital, I also started a private practice in the Chicago suburbs. At the beginning of 2020, I relocated to San Diego and started a new private practice to serve the San Diego community. I continue to hold dual licensure in both Illinois and California to practice.
