We believe in 5 principles at OPTML when it comes to health
These five areas are non negotiable not just for achieving your best current health but for adding meaningful years to your life
In no order
Sleep: this is when your body repairs, you release the majority of your hormones, the growth from workouts happens. Under sleeping is one of the fastest ways to remove years from your life.
Nutrition: you are what you eat. What you consume goes to the “Home Depot” of your body. When you need to repair, 👨🏻🔧 that’s the shelves your body gets to shop. Make sure you are repairing with the right products, think of trying to tear apart a steak, chicken or salmon filet? No think of tearing apart a donut? Which would you rather your body be built with?
Recovery: We recover with stretching, sauna, cold plunge, foam rolling, walking, ice, heat, red light, infrared and other methods. Treatments like massage, chiropractic, acupuncture all play a role in keeping our body running at full force. They all also reduce stresses on the body and add years to your life by helping you avoid injuries and dysfunction.
Stress management: We must keep back to a mental baseline, a parasympathetic state of rest and digest. This is where all the above can take place. In a stressed state our body won’t rebuild and repair, it will focus on survival. We are meant for short term stress, not chronic.
Exercise: This builds muscle and burns fat, strengthens our bones and promotes proper hormone production. It’s also one of the biggest factors on our longevity. Being strong keeps us independent and capable of fully enjoying life.
With all the noise of the health and fitness world, focus on these 5 principles and you’ll be alive to watch every fad pass by
