SDTH has provided specially tailored services - at no cost - to over 100 veterans in the last four years. We currently offer:
Freedom Reins: San Diego Therapeutic Horsemanship is honored to provide therapeutic/recreational riding services to our wounded service members, including those with amputations, traumatic brain injuries, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Dismounted sessions work to build a direct connection with the horse, building trust and communication, and providing an opportunity for a sense of accomplishment. Therapeutic Riding: In therapeutic riding, riding lessons are provided by specially trained and certified instructors to individuals with cognitive, physical, or psychological diagnoses. Along with acquiring riding skills, participants often experience improvements in balance, strength, coordination, and cognitive/social skills.
