I never thought I would ‘retire’ from a career I love and was born to do. Instead of retiring from private nutrition coaching, I am calling it evolving.
After these last few decades of learning, teaching, advocating, exploring, and being open to anything that helped me shift my perspective, I will switch my focus and energies.

RELEASE JUDGMENT.
When we are in a constant state of judgment, our chemistry and nervous system go into a consistent, defensive, and resistant response state.
We go throughout our day jumping all around this chart from emotional and physical stress and strains. Depending on how we respond to stress with our thoughts, actions, and processing our feelings will dictate how quickly we can go back to balance.
David Bayer breaks it down into two primary states:
Primal & Powerful.
Some of the comments I hear the most that can put you into a primal/fight/flight/freeze state are:
I didn’t do good today
This is bad for me, but I don’t care
That is bad for you
“They” say I should do this every day.
I only do this in moderation (but you still feel guilty)
I feel guilty for not eating better, exercising, drinking more water, etc.
Let’s say you got into a fender bender at an intersection that you drive by frequently. Each time you drive by, your left brain accesses your stored memories and alerts you that you are not safe there. It is stored in you even if you are not ‘thinking’ this.
First, all thoughts come in without our judgment or meaning; these thoughts are initially unlimited until we assign them meaning.
The thought travels first to the upper left hemisphere of the cerebrum, where the intellect or reasoning functions reside, and the ALTERed ego/stress response/trauma/conditioned mind is expressed.
The ego blocks/resists/refuses to allow all thoughts to be received and entertained for a greater realization, expanded consciousness.
Each thought frequency that the ALTERed ego allows to flow into the brain is transferred into an electrical current and sent to the portion of the brain that has been activated by the pituitary to ‘house’/be a memory of the frequency.
We must CATCH this reactive, left brain/conditioned mind when we feel threatened.
The empowered version of these is.
Observe your mind and body’s feelings of threat and discomfort, zoom out from the narrowed vision of fear, and remind yourself that you are safe now in the present moment.
Research recommends feeling the discomfort for 90 seconds. You can breathe, calm your mind, and try repeating a mantra.
This one is my favorite:

angry, sad, hurt, scared, anxious, frustrated, depressed, hopeless, ashamed, numb, craving comfort, etc.

I choose ALWAYS to love and adore myself and promise to do my best in the present moment.
This will shift your nervous system out of primal, sympathetic states and help you get into the calm, grounded parasympathetic nervous system.
This is where your body heals, your relationships thrive, and compassion radiates out of your heart.
Y’all, it is not easy. However, no one besides you can work with your inner resistance, fears, and stress.
