When I was 37 weeks pregnant, our Midwives strongly recommended we find a doula. We searched and no one would take us because it was so late, but then we found Tanesha. Fortunately she decided to take us on, because she was concerned for us and the fact that we are first time parents. Hiring Tanesha as a Doula is truly the best thing we could have possibly done for our birth. Tanesha equipped us with a wealth of knowledge and helped us work through our fears and traumas about birth. We bonded on a very deep, I would even say spiritual level and she made us feel truly cared for. Tanesha is highly intuitive, empathetic and has a sixth sense about pain. All these qualities are what made our birth experience better than I ever imagined. During the delivery Tanesha made me feel empowered, safe, motivated and confident. A skilled massage therapist, she made some of the most intense moments of the birth more bearable. As if these things weren't enough, Tanesha went above and beyond by taking some breathtaking photos for us, which my fiancé and I had completely forgotten about. Tanesha made our birth experience beautiful and empowering. It would not have been the same without her and I am so glad I got to meet her and make her a part of my birth team. https://bit.ly/3ka0YcG

“When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mothers bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.

For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mothers tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.

Even if a pregnancy doesn't go to full term or if you have an abortion, these cells still migrate into your bloodstream.

Research has shown that if a mother's heart is injured, fetal cells will rush to the site of the injury and change into different types of cells that specialize in mending the heart.

The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby.

How cool is that?

This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.

It’s incredible how mothers bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back - so that the baby can develop safely and survive.

Think about crazy cravings for a moment. What was the mother deficient in that the baby made them crave?

Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mothers brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”

If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there
.Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.

I find this to be so very beautiful.

My passion for birth...

I have always been drawn to birth work. As a massage therapist, my friends wanted my hands on them at their births and they kept asking me to attend. Every birth was magical. Seeing a woman recall the power inside herself never got old. I attended nine births and wanted to become a labor and delivery nurse. I attended a nursing program at National University and graduated in 2012. But with young children at home and understanding the time commitment with prerequisites and rotations, I decided on culinary school until my children got older. Once I graduated with my culinary degree and began working, I realized that I still longed to be with women in birth. My children now older, I began volunteering with UCSD Hearts and Hands Doula program an the birth magic came back into my life. I volunteered with UCSD for two and half years and attended twenty five births. I then decided to do private doula work and get formal training to add to my skill set.

I trained with DONA, with Gerri Ryan as my instructor(one of the best midwives in town) and then went on to take the Professional Doula Classes at the Birth Education Center. I am in the process of certifying with DONA and plan on adding Postpartum Doula to my resume soon. I have also attended a full HypnoBirthing series with San Diego HypnoBirthing and love to assist their families.

Birth is more than a hobby for me and my unique professional background helps me tune in to your families needs and support your birth preferences. Birth transforms a family and each baby brings about a birth just for them. I trust the process and support every type of entry in to the world. This is your babys first day here - let’s make it beautiful. Did I mention that I make a mean Mac & Cheese? What to you envision for your birth and how can I help you achieve that? I look forward to meeting with you.
