We are saddened by the passing of former United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County Executive Director Nancy Oro on August 16, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 88. She was surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her home in San Antonio, Texas.
Nancy joined UCP San Diego in 1975 when she was hired as an Adult Program Director after moving from Hawaii. She was promoted to Associate Executive Director of Programs and then to Executive Director in 1993 until her retirement on January 22, 1999. Nancy advanced the work of United Cerebral Palsy through the development of many programs including the lending library for children and a respite program for parents of children with disabilities.
Nancy is survived by her children Terri Kelly, Tony Oro, and Julie Krause, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A private family service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in Nancy’s name to United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County.
