Happy Wednesday πŸ‘‹πŸ½ This is our last post of the month regarding how to maximize a child's IEP through their present levels and goals. We hope the discussion has been helpful.

One final thing to remember here is the need to monitor progress πŸ“Š As often as general education parents receive progress reports/report cards.. that's how often you should receive progress reports regarding your child's IEP goals.

Each IEP outlines how often πŸ“† you should receive these progress reports. It might state 3 times/year, quarterly, each semester, etc.

If at any time during the year a child is not making measurable, meaningful progress...or they have met several goals...it might be time for an IEP meeting πŸ“ƒπŸ« At the meeting you can adjust goals up or down or create new ones.

Again, hope this was helpful! Always cheering you on πŸ‘πŸ½ ~ The Sanford Autism Advocacy Group, info@sdautismhelp.com, www.sdautismhelp.com

Hey IG Fam πŸ‘‹πŸ½ This month we're discussing how to maximize a child's IEP through their present levels and goals.

We've already discussed S.M.A.R.T. goals... goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

One way to make sure a student’s goals are "SMART" is to ensure that baseline data is added in each goal. That way it's easier to measure progress and determine if the goal is achievable in a year.

For example, if the goal is for Hazel to complete two digit math problems with 80% accuracy...what's the baseline? As of today, is she at 10% or 50% accuracy? This makes a big difference and helps in determining the supports needed, etc.

If you need help developing adjusting or writing student IEP goals, just let us know. Always cheering you on πŸ‘πŸ½ ~ The Sanford Autism Advocacy Group, info@sdautismhelp.com, www.sdautismhelp.com

Are your child's/client's/student’s IEP goals S.M.A.R.T πŸ€”??

Hey Everyone πŸ‘‹πŸ½ This month we're discussing how to maximize a child's IEP through their present levels and goals.

The term S.M.A.R.T. refers to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

At minimum, IEP 🎯 goals should be measurable and time-bound. A goal should focus on specific behaviors, skills, etc. which will be measured across a number of trials, days, etc.

If you have concerns, discuss this with the IEP team. If needed, you can also meet to revise goals during the school year based on student progress πŸ“‰πŸ“ŠπŸ“ˆ

If you need help developing S.M.A.R.T goals, just let us know. Always cheering you on πŸ‘πŸ½ ~ The Sanford Autism Advocacy Group, info@sdautismhelp.com, www.sdautismhelp.com
