Celebrating 50 years of federal law IDEA ✨️

This November, the CDE proudly joins the nation in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This landmark law transformed public education and strengthened our commitment to opportunity and inclusion.

Since its passage in 1975, IDEA has empowered millions of children, families, and educators across the country. It laid the foundation for individualized education programs, early intervention services, and inclusive practices that open doors to college, career, and community life.

Today, California serves more than 870,000 students with disabilities from birth through age 22, and each student is supported by the dedication of families, educators, administrators, and community partners. Throughout the 2025–26 school year, special education programs and partners across California will commemorate the 50th anniversary of IDEA with monthly themes, activities, and stories that honor the history, progress, and future of special education.

Happy Wednesday 😊 This month we're sharing the love with some of our favorite professionals. Today we celebrate those in the behavior field who are child-centered, flexible, and neuroaffirming.

Thank you BTs, RBTs, BCBAs for supporting families in naturalistic environments and empowering children 💙♾️ A special shout out to and her team at Kyo 🙌🏽

No estás solo. ✨

🔹 Lleva anotaciones. Apunta dudas, observaciones y logros recientes de tu hijo.

🔹 Pide copias de documentos. Tenerlos a mano te dará claridad y seguridad.

🔹 Busca apoyo.
