We’re excited to share information about SPARK, a nationwide genetics study hosted by the Simons Foundation. More than 100,000 families have already joined, and your participation can help drive meaningful discoveries.

SPARK offers free genetic testing, and if a genetic finding is identified, families also receive free results and genetic counseling. With known genetic causes accounting for only about 10% of autism cases, increasing participation is essential to uncover smaller genetic effects and deepen our understanding.

Celebrating the professional journey of Deyala Mulhem, who holds a B.A. in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Special Education with a concentration in ABA.

💬 Her advice for anyone starting in the ABA field:

“Do not be hard on yourself when you are first starting. Give yourself grace. This field is rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and mentally demanding. It is important to remember that every day is different, and growth comes from both good and challenging moments. Some days will be harder than others, but each one is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and make a difference.

P.S. Do not be afraid to ask questions!”
