Release tension and restriction in two of the body’s emotional strongholds: hips store what’s unspoken, shoulders carry what we refuse to put down.

The hips and shoulders are the body’s two main emotional strongholds—silent vaults where we store tension, memory, and protective patterns. In this deep, intelligently sequenced workshop, we’ll explore these physical and energetic gateways with equal parts strength, mobility, and surrender.

Through a blend of vinyasa-based flow, targeted mobility drills, and advanced asana exploration, students will learn how to access deeper range of motion in the hips and shoulders while cultivating the mindfulness to release what no longer serves. We’ll explore postures like Visvamitrasana, Compass, Bird of Paradise, and Pigeon variations with attention to both anatomical integrity and emotional nuance.

Expect a mix of challenge and softness, play and precision. This is not just a workshop about physical flexibility—it’s a practice in letting go, listening inward, and reclaiming space within your body.

Perfect for all students looking to deepen their physical practice and explore the intersection of emotion and embodiment.

***This workshop will be offered in-person only (no live stream.)***

Meet long-time Pilgrimage instructor, ✨️Jackie Stenzel✨️ Through the powerful tools of deep breathing, music, and moving meditation, her classes are a creative fusion of elements to awaken your soul and ignite your spirit. You can practice with Jackie every Tuesday night at 6:45pm for Hot Flowing All Levels yoga. Read on to learn more about Jackie!

🧡 What inspires your yoga practice?
Mindful conversations, self-reflection, movement, stillness, quietude, seeing so many dedicated yoga students at the studio, learning from and practicing with other yoga teachers, listening to my own body's needs. Since starting my practice and studies of yoga beginning in the early 2000's, my understanding of yoga has expanded vastly and continues to grow over the years. I appreciate that yoga is a philosophy that can be applied to our lived experience in our everyday lives... it is an infinite well that one can continue to drink from wherever you are on your life path, and it continuously bestows gifts of greater understanding and self-knowing. No matter what it may look like or how I try to describe it, yoga feels like an invitation to quiet my mind, come back to my center, and tune into the deeper parts of myself, and ultimately remember that I am part of the greater whole.

🧡 What are your favorite poses at the moment?
Lately, forward folding with bent knees feels absolutely divine! It feels so nice to just hang upside down, let my neck and spine decompress, and let all of the thoughts drip out of my head. Gravity does wonders.

🧡 What did you like to do when you were a kid?
When I was a kid, I loved climbing trees, catching critters like fuzzy caterpillars and "daddy long leg" spiders, and befriending stray animals. I also enjoyed swimming in my pool and diving for pennies with my little sister, and we could hold our breath for almost two minutes to get all 100+ pennies!
