To say that I haven’t posted here in a long time is an understatement. I’ve been focusing on sharing my journey in short form on my Instagram and TikTok channels. But, with all I am currently going through with my upcoming kidney transplant I thought it was about time I hop back on here and share all that has happened over the past few years....

Wow. Wow. Wow.

I had no idea US Olympic Gymnast Suni Lee was recently diagnosed with rare kidney disease. I’m rooting extra hard for her now. She’s managing her disease well enough to be back competing on the Olympic level. Absolutely insane! I can’t imagine how hard this has been for her but also couldn’t be more in awe of her strength and commitment!

I’ve always been amazed by these gymnasts and knowing that she’s back at this level while managing kidney disease absolutely blows my mind.

“This sudden left turn was not easy for Lee to process. “How do I just randomly wake up one day swollen, and now I’m stuck with this condition for the rest of my life?” she told SELF.”

I know this feeling myself and it guts you and tears you apart. Her determination to work through this is … I don’t even have the words to describe it. All I can say is she’s a warrior and superstar!

Go Suni!

Go Team USA!

From her very first symptom to how she’s doing now.

Tea 🫖 for two in celebration of 💚

I don’t leave my condo often because of my kidney disease. I’m always fatigued. I’m often weak from low blood pressure. I’m not able to eat a lot of times due to my associated GI issues. But some days the stars align and I manage to shower, get myself ready, makeup, cute outfit and make it to brunch with my long time friend . These days mean so much to me. We love trying all the brunch spots in San Diego and enjoying much needed girlfriend time. It gives me something to look forward to. A goal for the week and excellent way to use my spoons for the day.

This year my goal is to plan more events. Get out a bit more. And keep on keeping on by always having something to look forward to.

Chronic illness is lonely AF. I spend so much time alone so when my friends can make time for me in their busy schedules I make sure to save my spoons 🥄 for them.

I never regret it and always make sure to pace myself and plan rest accordingly. Living with FSGS is the hardest thing. Dialysis is horrible. Kidney failure literally sucks the life out of you. This just means finding joy and happiness and a reason to wake up every morning and fight through each day that much more important. Happiness is a journey. It doesn’t just happen. You have to seek it out and work for it.

I promise that those of you who are struggling with kidney disease (or any other variety of issues and struggles) you just need to keep going. We all have already survived the worst day of our life. We’re all still here. We can do it. You can do it. It will be hard. It will be relentless. But there are better days ahead. Treat yo self. Enjoy the finer things in life. Don’t hold off and wait. Do it today. Live today. Even if that just means making it until tomorrow.

I love everyone in my life who has supported me through this intense battle over the past 24 years. You are my everything. You have kept me going. You having given me some of the best days of my life. I want to thank you for that.

California Dreamin’ Barbie and her Barbie crew for a one night only appearance.

Took a mini nap. Stayed at the party two whole hours and I’ve been sleeping ever since. 😉 Being this fabulous is a lot of work.

Tina Turner lost her kidney function due to unregulated high blood pressure and ended up on dialysis and eventually receiving a kidney transplant. She was a warrior and an icon, using her fame to spread awareness about the risks of kidney disease.
She will be missed.

Two months before her death, the legendary singer urged people to take high blood pressure seriously, explaining how it seriously damaged her kidneys to the point she needed a transplant.

Take care of yourself, get check ups, be diligent. Kidney disease is silent and often not detected until major is already done. High blood pressure and diabetes are leading causes of kidney failure.

My first sign of kidney disease was swollen ankles which led to a urine test that showed I was losing a lot of proteins in my urine. I sought treatment right away but unfortunately my didn’t respond to treatment leading me to have two kidney transplants within two years. I’ve since been on dialysis since 2006 and without a major breakthrough I will be for the foreseeable future.

Don’t he like me. Get yourself checked. Stay healthy and ❤️ your kids (kidneys 😉)!!

Looks like I am in good company. This week I had three Basal Cell Carcinomas removed from my face.

A lesion on President Biden’s chest removed during last month’s annual physical exam was a basal cell carcinoma, and all cancerous tissue was successfully removed, his doctor said Friday.
