🚫 “I’m done with drinking”
~~~
What do you do if you want to stop drinking alcohol, but you still want to be social and have a good time?
One great option is to keep your social life as is and just pursue alcohol alternatives - substances that alter consciousness and promote sociability, with far fewer negative consequences.
Here are three legal (in most places) alternatives I recommend:
☕ Kava - “Earthy” beverage with prosocial effects like relaxation, euphoria, and anti-anxiety
🍵 Kratom - Tea-like beverage with stress-reducing effects, as well as increased energy and boost to focus
🌸 Kanna - Succulent (often in an extract powder) with heart-warming effects, leading to feelings of euphoria, contentment, and empathy
These alternatives are not mainstream, they’re not advertised, and they’re not served at the majority of bars and restaurants.
Also, they don’t produce the same effects as alcohol.
You may find this an adjustment at first, but many people find the effects MORE enjoyable and useful for them.
🤟
If you’re committed to finding alternatives to drinking, you can make it work, you can stay incredibly social - maybe even more social, as you have more energy, sleep better, and feel healthier.
Nothing wrong with being abstinent either, but for the vast majority of us who like altered states of consciousness (including those onset by caffeine and alcohol) we’re going to seek out SOMETHING, so why not choose the things that help us live our best lives!
What else has worked for you? Have you ever tried kava, kratom, or kanna?
NOTE: Kratom is classified as a controlled substance in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin. Always check with local laws to ensure you’re pursuing what’s legal in your jurisdiction
