The Center was honored to host the regular meeting of the Acoustic Neuroma Association San Diego Support Group on Saturday, January 16th. The 13 members in attendance enjoyed a presentation by the Center's Medical Director, Kenneth Ott, M.D. Dr. Ott spoke about the occurrence of acoustic neuromas and current methods of treatment. Jimmy Carter announced that the spots in his brain were now gone! He was going to have Gamma Knife for the lesions in his brain......if he indeed did.... Gamma Knife can literally melt metastatic lesions away.

Our nurse coordinator, Natalie Malone, was fortunate to be part of a two-week continuing education visit to Nicaragua. In conjunction with San Diego State University and Fairfield
University, the group of eight traveled to the Ayapal neighborhood of Managua to perform
health assessments and implement community health projects with an emphasis on women’s
health. Aside from Managua, the group visited a coffee farm in Santa Maura, Jinotega.
Natalie described the experience as awesome and gave her an appreciation for the health
care we enjoy in the United States.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jen our Nurse Coordinator!! Jen and Tony were married June 6 at Karmere Vinyard in Northern CA and they honeymooned in Tahiti. They Island hopped and even swam with the sharks! Jen and Tony are both employed in health care.
