Man, this is the second sub-archetype of the Father Archetype from .us deck I’ve pulled in 2 weeks.

I’ve noticed a shift in my parenting and how I show up as a partner since meditating on these cards. Just this morning, I had a brief reflection on this card and it motivated me to prepare my daughters for the day, along with making things easier for my partner (who is getting no sleep due to our sick 5 month old).

Masculine Archetype of the Week:

The Deadbeat (Shadow of the Father)

I do not internalize this as “I’m a deadbeat father.” This card calls me to focus on Presence with my family, especially my wife and children. I often find myself physically present and not psychologically or emotionally present with my girls, more with my partner which calls me into having Council with the part of me afraid of losing my freedom and protecting myself from getting hurt. This was a meaningful card for me this week.
