Introducing My 🌿 Non-Tox Home 🌿 Guide
Over the years, I’ve been on a journey to learn to make all my essential home products from scratch. From cleaning products to shampoo, I’ve tried and altered many recipes to learn what works best for my lifestyle, and now I want to start sharing these recipes with you!
Today I’m sharing an easy, natural, and toxin-free homemade recipe for laundry detergent!
In this modern world, you are in constant contact with your clothes every day. And with your skin being your largest organ on your body that absorbs everything you put on it, how aware are you really of the chemicals being introduced to your body through your clothes?
So many people struggle with skin disorders (eczema, rashes, breakouts, etc), asthma, autoimmune conditions, and other sensitivities, and often the simplest solution is to switch the products you regularly use to more natural options.
Whether through the fabric of your clothes or the products you use to clean them, there are easy swaps you can make to ensure you and your family stay free from harmful products and chemicals on your skin.
🌿Dr. Cat's Non-Tox Laundry Detergent🌿
•1.5 cups of Soap Flakes
•3 cups of Washing Soda
•3 cups of Borax
•6 Tbsp of Epsom Salt
•Optional: 50 drops of essential oils (I like lavender and eucalyptus for a fresh scent)
Mix these ingredients together very well, and use 2 Tbsp for each load of laundry (add a little more for extra dirty loads). This recipe makes a half gallon of laundry detergent which will last you SO long, 64 loads to be exact! Be sure to store it in an airtight glass jar.
The combination of these ingredients act to clean, brighten, deodorize, and soften your clothes naturally!
As for your dryer sheets, try swapping them out for wool balls instead! The wool naturally reduces static cling. And you can add a few drops of essential oils to your wool balls to scent your clothes in the dryer 😊
*I’ve linked all the ingredients in my blog so you can start making your own laundry detergent that you and your family can feel 100% safe and healthy with*
