Aloha from Silvergate residents!
Aʻa i ka hula, waiho i ka makaʻu i ka hale. ("Dare to dance, leave shame at home".)

Residents danced the night away to the lively rhythm of the Sun D***O band. Known for their energetic performances and wide variety of music, their soulful tunes, infused with island vibes, had everyone swaying and tapping their feet. The addition of their talented Polynesian dancers was a highlight, captivating the audience with traditional dances that told stories of the islands. The dancers, adorned in colorful costumes, performed with grace and energy.

No luau would be complete without a feast, and our Culinary & Dining Services Team did not disappoint! Attendees indulged in authentic Polynesian cuisine, a true foodies dream. The menu featured a variety of island favorites, including succulent roast pig, huli huli chicken, and sweet guava chiffon cake dessert. Each dish was a celebration of bold flavors and fresh ingredients, transporting attendees to the tropical paradise of the Pacific islands.

The ambiance was nothing short of spectacular. The courtyard was transformed into a vibrant tropical oasis, with vivacious and colorful decor creating a festive atmosphere. Strings of lanterns and leis in every hue imaginable adorned the space, while tropical garlands added a touch of the color. This enchanting setting provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of relaxation and enjoyment.

Celebrating 50 Years of Love: Mary Kay and Jim Vesey's Golden Anniversary

There are few milestones in life as beautiful and inspiring as a 50th wedding anniversary. On a perfect Saturday afternoon, surrounded by family and friends, Mary Kay and Jim Vesey celebrated this monumental occasion with a party that was both heartwarming and unforgettable at Silvergate Rancho Bernardo.

To ensure the afternoon was filled with delightful melodies, Mary Kay and Jim hired the talented band Double Take. Double Take brought the courtyard to life with music that had everyone tapping their feet and dancing. Their performance was a perfect tribute to the Veseys' five decades of love, echoing the harmony that has been the foundation of their marriage.

No celebration is complete without a cake, and this party was no exception. A stunning cake, decorated in red, white and gold, was the centerpiece of the afternoon.

Mary Kay and Jim's 50th wedding anniversary was more than just a party; it was a testament to a lifetime of love, resilience, and companionship. Their story is an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to celebrate with them, and a reminder that true love can indeed stand the test of time.

Aloha from Silvergate Rancho Bernardo!

Memory Suites residents and their families enjoyed an amazing Luau this past week. Resident families joined their loved ones on the patio to watch Polynesian dancers sway the beautiful sounds of the Sun D***O Band.

The attendees were treated to scrumptious Polynesian food prepared by our Executive Chef Brittany Contreras and her team!

Great entertainment, beautiful decor and scrumptious food and drink, you couldn't ask for a better Luau Party! Mahalo nui loa to all the staff involved in making this event happen!

The residents at Silvergate Rancho Bernardo were taken on a rare tour this week to the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad. The GIA is a non-profit organization committed to educating the public in the field of gemstones and jewelry. The GIA also created the 4Cs of Diamond Quality and the GIA 7 Pearl Value Factors used to standardize gemstone evaluation around the world. The docent tour led by Julia Tripp, Coordinator of Museum Relations, included not only their wide variety of gemstone exhibits but also featured their education division of the facility. The GIA is not just another museum; it provides in-depth knowledge and skills for the next generation of jewelry professionals. The attendees received a book explaining the different gemstones as a souvenir!

After their fascinating tour, they stopped for a bite at Miguel's Cocina in Carlsbad!

Where has the time gone? Time really flies when you're having fun!
Its been 5 years since Silvergate Rancho Bernardo opened!

We celebrated this milestone with an all out Roaring 20's Party. From popular prohibition cocktails to flapper dresses, we had it all! Residents enjoyed live music entertainment provided by the "Los Salvajes Band" and Great Gatsby dance entertainment by "Twisted Orbit". We had the "Remember This" photobooth and a goodie bag for our residents to remember the day! Our legacy residents were honored as our first 6-month move-ins, when we opened.

Our team knocked it out of the park on this event and we'd like to thank everyone involved in making it happen. A big thank you to our Culinary & Dining Services team for all their hard work to make this event so special. They handcrafted 20 different scrumptious appetizers with over 200 of each appetizer made!

This past week our residents visited the U.S.S. Midway Museum with Johnathan Burgi, the "A Pure Heart SRB Veteran's Club" founder. Residents were treated to a docent tour courtesy of the Volunteer Program Director of the U.S.S. Midway, Laurie Switzer. We had a very knowledgeable docent named John Landry with the accompaniment of Mark Smolin, SRB Resident and Volunteer of the U.S.S. Midway. They saw everything from the beautiful artwork to the fighter jets! After all was said and done they enjoyed a delectable lunch on the deck.

Last week Silvergate Rancho Bernardo held a huge "Old Hollywood Bash" where we invited our future residents in to experience what a Silvergate party is like! Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley Hollywood impersonators were the stars of the show! Their costumes and impressions were amazing! All in attendance enjoyed the 1950's themed menu exquisitely prepared by Executive Chef Brittany Contreras and her culinary team!

We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers that worked together to make this event happen. Our staff and volunteers are rockstars!

Silvergate Rancho Bernardo residents took a jaunt into the hills of Escondido to visit the Cordiano Winery for dinner on the patio! They enjoyed plates of antipasto salad, assorted pasta, and pizza paired with a glass of Cordiano's finest wine or their variety wine tasting flight. The view from the patio was absolutely stunning!

This past weekend we hosted a fabulous Antique Car Show event just in time for Father's Day weekend! We had 11 beautiful classic cars show up from the Antique Automobile Club of America and take part in our People's Choice Voting competition of which car they believed was the best! Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners each received a medal with their placement and a gas gift card!

The residents enjoyed BBQ style food, Mai Tai cocktails, fresh popcorn in classic car popcorn holders and amazing music from Country Jam 2.0! The party wasn't complete without our favorite temporary tattoo artists with "Temporary Mistake" and our favorite photobooth operator Ginger who captured beautiful memories of the day!

What an amazing day it turned out to be!

We went on an adventure to ECOLIFE Conservation's Hydroponics Farm in Escondido this past week! Connor led us through their facility and educated us on the benefits of aquaponics farming vs traditional farming techniques. Connor even let our residents taste test some blueberries they had been growing! Our residents have been collecting money from recycling cans and bottles to give to ECOLIFE Conservation so they can continue their mission of providing solutions to animal extinction and human health issues by addressing problems at their common roots. The money we have raised has gone to building brick stoves for underprivileged families in Mexico! What a good cause!

After the visit to the Hydroponics Farm our residents stopped for a bite to eat at Side Yard Public House restaurant! Their food was generously portioned and so tasty!

This week Silvergate Rancho Bernardo residents joined us at Jake's Restaurant in Del Mar! They enjoyed amazing entrees and decadent desserts before a stroll to the beach!

This week Silvergate Rancho Bernardo residents enjoyed a day at Petco Park to watch the Padres vs Marlins baseball game! They had an absolute blast being able to watch the game in person. What great memories to share with their loved ones!
