CORE BEHAVIOR ALERT
Raise Your Hand & Keep Care at the Center

We speak up, stay aware, and prioritize safety and care for our patients and our teams.

AMR San Diego is proud to recognize Cami Krasae‑Flaherty for exemplifying our CORE behaviors during a recent event response at Petco Park.

While responding to an assault call in a dynamic, crowded environment, Cami demonstrated exceptional situational awareness and sound decision‑making. As she navigated toward the call, she noticed an individual in her path whose behavior raised concern.

Recognizing the potential risk, Cami quickly reassessed the situation, adjusted her route, and proactively communicated her updated location and plan to dispatch. Her familiarity with the venue and ability to think ahead allowed her to safely reroute without delaying patient care.

Cami’s awareness and decisive action ultimately helped her avoid contact with what was later identified as the suspect involved in the incident.

This moment highlights the importance of staying alert, anticipating risk, and adapting in real time. Cami’s actions reflect operational excellence and the very best of AMR and GMR CORE behaviors.

Outstanding work, Cami, and thank you for continuing to keep care and safety at the center of everything you do.

👏 Congratulations, Keith Martin! 👏

Please join us in celebrating Keith Martin, our Paramedic Employee of the Quarter and a dedicated member of the AMR team with over two decades of service!

Keith began his AMR journey in 2002 as an EMT and went on to become a Paramedic in 2006 after completing the Southwestern College Paramedic Program. Since then, he has taken on additional roles as a Paramedic Preceptor and Field Training Officer (FTO), helping guide and support the next generation of EMS professionals.

A San Diego native, Keith enjoys fishing and spending time with his family when he’s off duty. What he appreciates most about working at AMR is the people—working alongside teammates who are fun to be around and who share a common goal of helping those in our community.

His advice for those entering EMS:
Have strong problem-solving skills and stay motivated—even when things get difficult.\
Thank you, Keith, for your years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving both our community and our future EMS professionals. 💙🚑

CORE BEHAVIOR ALERT
Keeping Care at the Center
We prioritize care for our patients and our teams when we plan or act.

AMR San Diego is proud to recognize Paramedic Kimberly McGregor for exemplifying our commitment to keeping care at the center of everything we do.

A supervisor did a ride along with her recently and noted that Kimberly demonstrated exceptional awareness, compassion, and patient advocacy. Upon arrival at the emergency department, several patients were waiting on gurneys in a cold environment. Kimberly quickly noticed that her patient was shivering and asked if a warm blanket would provide comfort. After confirming the need, she took immediate action.

Kimberly returned not only with a warmed blanket for her patient, but with additional blankets that she offered to other patients nearby who were also waiting to offload. This thoughtful action helped improve comfort for multiple patients during a difficult and uncomfortable wait.

This moment serves as a powerful reminder that small, intentional actions can have a meaningful impact. Kimberly went beyond her primary responsibility to ensure dignity, comfort, and care for her patient and others around her.

Thank you, Kimberly, for consistently demonstrating our CORE behaviors and for the positive difference you make for patients, partners, and colleagues every day.

It’s National Therapy Animal Day!

🐾💙 Our very own Pawamedic Baxter brings calm, connection, and stress relief. It is these small moments that can make a big difference during demanding shifts.

Employee wellness isn’t a one day focus for us. It’s a commitment to supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of those who show up every day to serve our community.

And sometimes, that support comes with four paws and a wagging tail. 🐾💙

💙 Community Education in Action! 💙

AMR San Diego was honored to be invited to the Sherman Heights Community Center's Comedor Program, where our Community Outreach Specialist, Max, had the opportunity to spend time with the incredible seniors who participate in this program.

During the visit, Max shared practical, empowering information on:

✅ How to efficiently activate the 9‑1‑1 system
✅ How to use a home blood pressure monitor, what the numbers mean, and some tips for maintaining healthy blood pressure
✅ What a a Vial of Life is and why it is so valuable for first responders in an emergency

The Sherman Heights Comedor Program is truly an amazing resource—providing nutritious meals, connection, and support to older adults in a warm and welcoming environment. Programs like this play a critical role in promoting health, wellness, and independence in our communities.

Thank you to the team at Sherman Heights Community Center for the invitation and for all the meaningful work you do. We’re grateful to be part of it and proud to support community health through education and outreach! 🚑💙

👏 Congratulations, Shalisa Wilson-Young! 👏

Please join us in celebrating Shalisa Wilson-Young, our Employee of the Quarter and a true pillar of AMR San Diego with an incredible 37 years of service!

Shalisa has served in multiple roles throughout her career, including EMT, Field Training Officer (FTO), and Operations Control Assistant (OCA). Born and raised in San Diego, she completed her EMT education through San Diego Community College / the Educational Cultural Complex in Southeast San Diego. Her EMS journey began through a pilot program with Hartson’s Ambulance, launching a lifelong dedication to patient care and service.

What Shalisa enjoys most about EMS is caring for patients during their time of need—especially the meaningful conversations with elderly patients, whose life stories often turned calls into unforgettable moments. She also values the lifelong friendships she’s built during her years at AMR.

Outside of work, Shalisa continues to serve her community as an active member of Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where she supports outreach efforts and volunteers weekly to help those experiencing homelessness.

Her advice to those entering EMS is simple and powerful:
“Treat patients with respect and kindness.”

Thank you, Shalisa, for your decades of dedication, compassion, and lasting impact on AMR San Diego and the communities we serve. 💙🚑

💙 Love to Support Community Health & Safety! 💙

We were happy to once again support and participate in the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce's annual Health Fair at the Grossmont Shopping Center!

The AMR San Diego Community Education Team was on hand throughout the event, teaching adult and infant hands‑only CPR and sharing lifesaving knowledge with community members of all ages. We loved seeing so many people stop by, ask questions, and take time to learn skills that can truly make a difference in an emergency.

Events like this empower our community through education and prevention—and that’s something we’re always excited to be part of.

🌳💚 Great Event in City Government of Lemon Grove ! 🍋🌳

The AMR San Diego Community Education Team had a blast at the Lemon Grove Arbor Day Foundation Arbor & Earth Day celebration, teaching community members how to save a life with Hands‑Only CPR.

It was great to see such a strong turnout and so many people eager to learn a simple skill that can make a life‑saving difference. Every second counts in a cardiac emergency, and knowledge truly saves lives.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and to the event organizers for bringing the community together around health, safety, and sustainability!
