Confidential and Sustainable Recovery
We serve people who are looking for confidentiality, whether it is because of their profession or their preference. Clients receive confidential, long-term addiction treatment that supports sustainable recovery. Confidential Recovery is an outpatient program, allowing clients to continue their careers or jobs and enjoy living at home while receiving long-term

therapy. Continued Treatment
Confidential Recovery is a great option for continued treatment and support once individuals are discharged from a detox clinic or a residential addiction program. Our clients are often high-functioning individuals who generally want to be with others like themselves. Individualized Treatment
We like to say one size doesn’t fit all for treatment. Each individual works to develop their own self-care plan to foster growth necessary for long-term sobriety and sustainable recovery patterns. Our program treats the whole person, not just the symptoms which are present. Lasting Support
One in seven Americans will develop a substance use disorder at some point in their lifetime. Most will not be successful at sobriety without ongoing support. Confidential Recovery believes the stigma of addiction and treatment must be removed to help clients along the road to recovery – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Do you have a neighbor who has served in the Armed Forces? Honor them this 4th of July by showing them you care. They may have PTSD and find fireworks stressful.

Here are five tips for making Independence Day, especially any firework displays, more inclusive for people with PTSD:

1. Find out when the fireworks are, and let the person know ahead of time, so they have time to prepare.

2. Establish a safe space, so they can attend your get together and go there to be safe.

3. Provide them earplugs, headphones, and music. Noise-canceling headphones can be a great way to lessen the impact.

4. Celebrate in a different way. Get away from the area where there are fireworks.

5. Be kind to yourself and others. Give them permission to go home early and let others know they have PTSD.

There was some really good news (finally) for veteran homelessness recently, with a 25% drop in total numbers in San Diego, and even when you discuss the difficulty of getting accurate numbers (as I do in the below clip), that's heading in the right direction.

It is also positive that there are programs getting our veterans off the streets and into hotels - and not only that, but aiming to get them some of the much-needed support services that can help them create lasting change in their lives.

You can read about the segment on Fox 5/KUSI yesterday and watch it here: https://www.confidentialrecovery.com/blog/confidential-recovery-ceo-discusses-veteran-hotel-voucher-program-on-fox-5-kusi-san-diego/

As we continue to recognize PTSD Awareness Month, we wanted to share that women experience PTSD at a higher rate than men in the U.S. according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

Also, 80% of people who have PTSD also struggle with another mental health disorder, and all too often it is a substance use disorder.

At Confidential Recovery we treat both genders for substance use disorder and related trauma issues. We have a Wednesday night Women's Only group that is quite popular (in addition to our usual co-ed groups and individual counseling that our clients participate in).

Why do Many Veterans Not Get the SUD Help They Need?

In light of and the very upsetting new Veteran su***de statistics we became aware of last year (up to 44 PER DAY, if you include overdose, which are counted as "self-injury"), we wanted to share this article about how Veterans are “slipping through the cracks” of their support system. The reasons are numerous, but we have noticed some patterns.

The article was written by Veteran Jay Wylie, who is the Operations Manager at Confidential Recovery: https://bit.ly/3L3Vi1Z

"For teens to sustain the drug-free choice, they have to want it and it has to be voluntary." - Angie Ferguson from Drug Free Clubs of America

I learned so much about the psychology of teens and how we can motivate them to avoid drugs when we had Angie on Scott H. Silverman's Happy Hour Podcast this week.

I think parents of teens/tweens would really benefit from watching this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPyGjPqet_w

💜 Not all injuries are visible, and thankfully, we have more tools than ever to support those in recovery from and .

But we still have a long way to go.

Here is an article that veteran-in-recovery Jay Wylie wrote about the things he's learned treating the Veteran population with substance use disorders (SUD) and PTSD: https://bit.ly/3MUtsWJ
