Dr. Lance M. Mahoney, D.C.

Dr. Lance M. Mahoney, D.C. Located in Ocean Beach, 20+ years of chiropractic experience! Growing up on a farm in Iowa, my first love was wrestling. I loved it. Its a religion. Mind-blowing!

I would spend my days working physically on the farm, from sun up to sun down; but my mind was miles away on the wrestling mat. Any spare time I found I put forth into my wrestling. And wrestling in Iowa is as big as corn is in Nebraska. After high school, I didn’t have any scholarship offers for wrestling to any fancy schools, but this didn’t discourage me a bit. I knew I was going to wrestle in college, so I walked on at The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where I completed my undergraduate studies in Biology as well as Chemistry. During my time as a collegian wrestler, and after years of repeated tension and stress on my neck, I suffered a career ending injury to my neck. The injury was life changing for me. It broke my heart. I immediately understood that my competion days where over through, and as heart-breaking as it was, this tribulation introduced me to my second love and an even greater passion: Chiropractic care. If I couldn’t wrestle again, I was going to help those that could. So upon graduating I immediately enrolled at Northwestern Chiropractic College. I wish there was more to tell you about this time in my life, but theres really nothing but school and education during this chapter. I completely submersed myself in my studies. So other than being elected Vice President of the Gonstead club, (A special type of technique applauded through the chiro community) . Upon Graduating I took to the first job thrown at me and began tirelessly chipping away at the american dream. I became fascinated with chiropractic care; how simple it made health problems. I learned how intricate our bodies truly are and how our nerves and bones are intertwined in such a way that it won’t function properly if the smallest bone slips out of place. It amazed me how a simple tweak to a vertebrae could relieve the pressure from my nerves, thus settling an upset stomach. I began working, practicing, and learning every possible technique I could that would fit properly in my little chiropractic toolbox. I had even branched out and started my very own practice, that kept me busier then a one-eyed cat watching 9 mouse holes. I couldn’t hardly think of anything other than chiropractic care. I began to question what was really driving my practice and I. So I did some soul searching, which led me to the greatest decision of my professional career…

I sold my practice, my house, my vehicle, Gave my goldfish “tuna" to my secretary, and traveled to India. I traveled through out the country for weeks practicing on the locals and teaching proper care for skeletal injuries. It was truly one of the most fulfilling and educating experiences of my life. So eye-opening was this venture, that I honestly feel that this is where I earned my degree. After returning to Iowa recharged, I opened another practice. Things truly were starting to come together, and i was appreciating my chiropractic practice on a whole new level. But there was still something growing stale in my life. After traveling the world and seeing the beauty of a beach, and also getting fed up with winter in Iowa, I asked myself, what is it that I’m missing? So once again I packed up and headed for new waters, this time landing me in Ocean Beach where I have been for a little over 5 years. With breathtaking sunsets, warm-hearted friends and neighbors, amazing pizza and burgers, I feel that finally, I made it home. In my fourteen years as a chiropractor, I’ve had the privilege of working on patients from day old babies, to 83 year old benedictine nuns, to helping teenagers. And my passion doesn’t stop there, along with spinal work I also do muscle work as well as extremity adjustments. My technique focuses on respecting your bodys balance by making only minimal adjustments while restoring nerve integrity and listening to what it has to say. Our bodies are the most advanced and self-healing supercomputers on earth. All you need some times is a “push” in the right direction. I hope to see each and everyone of you walk through my doors and allow me to help you heal naturally, and minimally as you travel through life journey. Namaste
