Health outcomes aren’t shaped only by personal effort, they’re also influenced by systems, structures, and inequities. Coaches stay within scope by supporting clients in reflection and awareness rather than giving prescriptive instructions.
Coaches:
• Explore how systemic barriers and inequities impact a client’s wellbeing
• Acknowledge frustrations without assigning blame or minimizing lived experiences
• Support clients in identifying possible next steps within their control
• Partner with clients to consider when connecting with the right professional (e.g., social worker, patient navigator) might be beneficial
By keeping the focus on reflection, empowerment, and culturally humble coaching, not “fixing” systemic problems, coaches help clients navigate complex situations in a grounded, ethical, and scope-aligned way.
