I’ve battled an eating disorder for many years. It started from childhood and has reared its ugly face many times in my adult years! The scale was a trigger for me from my competitive gymnastics years. Body fat pinched and scale checks as a kid messed with me. The scale still has a hold and I have to remind myself of the health Im creating and it’s more than instant gratification the comes from the scale validation of moving down. Am I alone with this love to hate relationship with the scale?

Can you say you’ve given it enough time?
Can you say you’ve been consistent?
Can you say you’ve tracked?

All things I asked myself as we finish out the first month of a brand new year.

Have you already given up what you set out to do this year?

Your mind gives in before your body and what I know is an active body in motion tends to lead the brain in continuing.

Maybe the goals you set were so lofty you couldn’t be consistent with them. Now is the time to consider what you CAN do consistently and work on that this next month!

Have you ever created a Health Vision Statement? I took our clients in our community through this exercise and the goal is to take your “why” and mix it with your core values so that you can create your goals based on what you truly want out of your health this year! I wrote mine and then revised it again!

“In 2024, I’m all about trying out tasty healthy recipes, tackling hiking trails with friends, and hitting the gym for some heavy lifting fun. Daily meditation and prayer keeps the stress at bay, and I’m ditching the scale worries to focus on living strong and loving it! 💪”

I don’t always crush goals. In fact, I taught this Monday and by Friday was crying over the scale. Revisiting my vision statement helps me remember what I truly want, even when LIFE hits.

If you’re a client, make sure you check our recordings in our Client Hub. Not a client yet? I’m here to help you develop these skills to help you move forward to your healthiest year ever!

Seeing the same “perfect” body everywhere can really mess with a woman’s head about her own body. Stay with me on this…You know, this idea that there’s only one body type that’s considered hot or fit or strong. It makes women feel like their own bodies aren’t good enough.

Trying to fit into a mold that’s totally unrealistic and doesn’t represent most women is a bad deal. We need to shout out for body diversity. There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to bodies, and that’s what makes each person unique. Let’s ditch the pressure to fit into some media-driven idea and celebrate all the different ways bodies can be awesome! Are you with me?

There aren’t enough coaches out there who know how to give perimenopause and menopausal women the coaching and care they need and deserve.

I’ve been in the health and fitness world since my early 30’s. It’s been a passion of mine ever since! But as my body and needs change, I recognize that in this industry, much of this population of menopausal women is ignored completely. BUT IM HERE TO END THAT.

I hope you’ll follow along for the journey of me applying all I learn, begin coaching women through this journey and begin a movement of middle aged women.

If you want to know where I’m going. Know this:
I help women navigate perimenopause with comprehensive health solutions, putting an emphasis on habit development and informed nutrition. As a compassionate guide, I’m dedicated to your transformative journey towards healthier living and weight loss.

I ate all the things during this season. Some in moderation and some I threw all habits aside and dove in!

I learned to release guilt over food a while ago, so my new approach to the “OOPS, I did it again” feeling about putting on a few holiday pounds…

I call it my bulking season!! Seriously, what’s been done has been done, and now it’s time to move forward!

I’ll use the “extra” stored energy to push hard at the gym!

Goals moving into January: 10k steps a day every day and 5x a week lifting.

As I’m learning and working through my perimenopause and menopause coaching certification, I’ll fill you in on nutrition and what’s best for the aging woman!

For now; it’s me in a bit of trial and error but mostly excited to see how good I can feel this next year!

If you’ve had a hard year; these are things I needed to be reminded of🤟🏼💓

I am beyond excited right now!!!!!

I have felt a transition coming that was more than my kids leaving the nest. It was weird. I can’t explain my feelings of grief mixed with curiosity.

I didn’t know what the next chapters of my life, my health coaching business, the way I wanted to serve others looked like.

One thing has become so clear so I’m thanking God for His direction and running with it. I’ve never been more excited about health coaching!

You’re looking at a woman who just signed up to become a Certified Menopause Coaching Specialist.

I’m clear for this first time in a while where I’m supposed to level up and I’m so excited!!!!!

So please stay with me as I grow into this next phase of my health coaching business!

I pray the value I will bring to you and those you love will be priceless!

Thanks for celebrating with me because this is an answer to a prayer I’ve been praying over my life and my future for this entire year!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeee

I’ve been an entrepreneur for over a decade. I’ve never experienced the type of decline that’s happened over this last year. Trust me when I say there’s been more than a handful of times I’ve wondered if my time is done in this space.

But I had to turn back to the questions that have kept me in the health coaching space.

1. Do you want to help others?
2. Do you want to leave a legacy?
3. Do you want more out of life?
4. Do you want a community that is filled with others who want you to win?
5. Do you want an extra income that’s not limited by a boss?

All of these are still a very enthusiastic YES!

The only difference between where you are and where I am...A DECISION TO GO ALL IN!

Which at times has felt silly to me. But then there’s this:

What do you have to lose?

Or maybe you should be asking yourself this: what could I gain?

If you’re an entrepreneur, check my stories for today, because this podcast will hopefully encourage you the way it did me♥️

Keep going all you entrepreneurs! Your passion is still in there! Don’t let that flame die!

Im so cautious about who to listen to when it comes to my health! The thirty something’s that tell you to eat the damn cookie has never had to deal with perimenopause.

Literally looking at a cookie causes me to gain a pound!

As we age, hormones can do a number on us physically and mentally.

I’m a health coach AND I’m right around the corner from the change! I’ve already been getting bio identical testosterone and still learning.

I get it! We all want to live in balance and be able to eat the way we did when we were younger, but you just can’t understand until you’re in it and UNDERSTAND!

I see you middle aged ladies! The struggle is real! But don’t give up! You CAN build muscle, you CAN lose the weight. You CAN age and feel good doing it too!

It just might take you doing something you’ve never done! I promise to share all the good, bad and ugly of aging and throw some tips your way as I learn too!

💓,
Your middle aged health coach Lindsey🤣

You don't make yourself look better by:
Diminishing someone else
Humiliating someone else
Demeaning someone else
Disparaging someone else
Mocking someone else
Minimizing someone else
Dismissing someone else
Slandering someone else
Ignoring someone else

If you need to do any of these things to feel better about yourself, you are insecure. You are better than that.

A few years ago, I recognized a few key areas that felt off.
-anxiety spikes (especially mid afternoon)
-mood swings
-struggling to add muscle no matter how heavy i was lifting.
-my drive
-restless broken sleep

I was told to check my hormones and everything was normal but my testosterone was literally in the tank. (It was at 7 IYKYK😳).

I started bioidentical therapy and haven’t looked back. So helpful!

But recently because of my age, I am realizing the BIG CHANGE all women go through is around the corner. Things have to shift so I’m making those changes now.

New routine:
-Drink my essential amino acids-clean, no artificial sweeteners!
-Increase fiber intake(snacking on edamame, bulk up meals with broccoli, fats from avocados-also high in fiber, berries, apples)
-Increase lean protein intake-eggs and egg whites, Greek yogurt, fish, chicken, turkey and my nightly whey protein shake.
-Lift heavy 5x a week-I’ve got a routine if you want the screen shots. Lemme know🤟🏼.
-Brisk walk 45 min a day.
-Red light sauna therapy 5x a week (25 min)-great for reducing inflammation, stress and sickness.

You can tell me all day long you don’t have time for that, but I won’t be the middle aged woman getting put on more medication because i thought I could eat like a teenager and sit around sad about the lack of energy I have.

Nobody will care for your body but YOU💓.

My memory from this day on the left to this day on the right….

“This week, Conner started Rugby. It's a new sport he knows nothing about. The fact that he's willing to try something new makes me proud.
Conners the type of kid that doesn't like or try until he knows he can master. This step in growth for him to try before he can conquer is so HUGE.
What's at stake when we fail to try? More than we even know!!!
Now it's time for this mom to learn what a scrum, grubber kick, biff, all the thugs.”

TO WHERE WE ARE TODAY…

Conner, that question “What’s at stake when we fail to try?” Is one that I look back and smile on! You took a chance on unknown and worked your butt off to where you have been offered the opportunity to play Division 1 rugby in New York. Wow son!

What a lesson for me as your mom. What’s at stake if I don’t try? 🎉🎉🎉

Well, after 8 years, Conner is taking off his pads for good.

Playoffs came and went last night and Patrick Henry fell short.

He was hoping for a win because next week was ready to head back into the game and come off the injury list.

We all had a good cry last night. Football taught Conner how to show up and fight. He knew hard work would pay off and even though he’s quiet, his work ethic spoke loud enough.

He was 1 of 2 Sophmores to make Varsity. That happened to be championship year and he scored that CIF ring! So many highs and lows since that year, but we enjoyed all of it with our son!

Friday night lights won’t ever look the same for the Nicks household. BUT…

Conner is coming into rugby season which is the next step towards his future of being a collegiate athlete playing Division 1 in New York.

Necessary endings…
