By sharing his story, Harbour hopes to challenge stigma and remind everyone that support, understanding, and compassion can make a real difference.

Hope empowers season after season.
As the year comes to a close, we are grateful for the generosity that makes our work possible. Because of you, individuals and families navigating bipolar disorder have access to free education, trusted resources, and a supportive community.
Your support brings understanding, stability, and hope to people when they need it most. With limited time left in the year, a year end gift helps ensure no one faces bipolar disorder alone.
Words matter. When someone lives with bipolar disorder, the language we use can either deepen stigma or build support. Small shifts in how we respond can help people feel seen, respected, and understood.

International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF), formerly known as California Bipolar Foundation, was founded in June 2007 in San Diego, California by four parents with children affected by bipolar disorder. Well aware of the trauma that bipolar disorder causes for consumers and their families, these parents felt compelled to do something constructive to help.
IBPF is made up of a founding Executive Committee, a Scientific Advisory Board, Honorary Board, Advisory Council and a Consumer Advisory Council. Agency committees include the Finance Committee, Marketing Committee, Development Committee, Governance Committee and Programs Committee.
Our mission is to empower individuals living with bipolar disorder and their caregivers by providing advocacy, education, support, and awareness—fostering a caring community and stigma-free world where mental health is equitably acknowledged and treated.
We envision wellness, dignity and respect for people living with bipolar disorder, and a world free of mental health stigma.
