Tips from a Speech-Language Pathologist: All play is good for teaching language and vocabulary. Here, this 2-year old is learning words for different forest animals. He looooved that the tree was about as tall as he is! 😆

I’m excited for all of the progress that he’s made. However, because I see him through the state’s free 0-3 year old program, our last allowed session is the day before his 3rd birthday.

I explained to him it was our last session, and this is what he did. Did he understand? Possibly…. Background: He may have autism. He cried for the first few months that I’d go see him because he would do that when anyone who was not his parents came into the room, even his grandfather. It’s a bittersweet day when he’s now so comfortable with me that he no longer has cried (for a few months, now,) and wants to rest his head on my lap.

Tips from a Speech Pathologist.
Use what you have at your disposal to keep talking time fun, and interactive. This toddler has 2 new kittens and his family prefers to work outside, so we sometimes incorporate them. We describe their movements, their sound, and we’re helping his awareness of those around him. Including the kittens. 🤗

Listening to what the little ones are attempting to say with the limited words and experience that they have is sometimes like a detective where you use what you know about them and the context to help them. 💗

This is the biggest reason why I create social media, and I’m so happy to hear that I really helped them. 🥰 I want to help as many parents as possible to be able to communicate with their babies and toddlers, and if that baby has a delay, that they are able to catch it early, so it can be addressed quickly! I’ve been really happy to have been able to help toddlers not need speech therapy in preschool and beyond through working with me. 💜
