This little sweetheart came in this morning for her laser frenectomy. She was dressed as a shark but promised not too bite. We practiced stretching her shark too who was just as cooperative as she was. Awesome job!

Great conference so far! The only other female MD here is Dr. Shelly Klein a fellow Pediatrician too. Great to share and collaborate and learn from each other. Grateful to be among the hundreds of other providers from dentists, SLPs, Myofunctional therapists, midwives, NPs and more all working as a Team to help families!

“ I am a registered nurse and IBCLC. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have over twenty years of women’s health and infants nursing care working both in outpatient and hospital settings. My journey into women’s health nursing began with the delivery of my son where I found the desire to help new moms through this life changing event. After years of noticing moms struggling with breastfeeding (including my family and myself), I pursued my education in lactation and became an IBCLC. Working in the hospital as a nurse and an IBCLC, I have been blessed to help empower mothers to obtain their breastfeeding goals. I also work as an instructor for student nurses at a local university.

Eight years ago, my husband and I decided to call San Diego home shortly after he retired from the Air Force after 20 years. Together we are blessed with 3 awesome children and 3 beautiful grandchildren.”

The CUTEST before and after! Look at how relaxed this sweet girl is!! The pictures were taken a couple of hours apart and you can see such a difference. Wow 🥰

Nowhere far, just downstairs! We have officially moved into our new office, Suite 101 in our beautiful Hacienda building in San Diego. We are so excited for this change as the first floor has easy access for parking and wheeling strollers through the stunning courtyard. Keep an eye out for our open house, coming soon!

After having done an immense amount of research, we couldn't be happier with our decision to go with Team Tongue Tie for our premature baby's tie release. The entire procedure took less than 15 minutes with each step of the way clearly communicated to us. Following the procedure, a lactation consultant was available to help baby latch and review proper stretching exercises; site healing/range of motion was assessed at follow up visits. Although, my little one did not show immediate improvement the day of release, she did improve significantly over the weeks following - this was huge for us. Aftercare is essential. Aftercare with lactation support is special. In our office, all of our staff are either a CLC or an IBCLC, including Dr. Sacker. Post-procedure, you will have the opportunity to spend quality time with one of our caring and knowledgeable lactation consultants who will help you and your baby learn how to breastfeed with their new anatomy. Rather than sending you out the door post-procedure, we spend the time and teach you how to care for yourself and your baby. Even after that, we are available for your questions beyond the office. “Where do I begin, after months of seeing my wife upset about our baby not eating well, choking on her food and water, being in the 3% of babies her age, we were referred by a colleague to TTT. We had an over the phone pre-consult to inform us of the exam, procedure (if needed), oral massages and exercises as well as cost and recheck information. The visit was a little stressful but with a solid purpose, our daughter had five ties.
The first two weeks were the most difficult but totally worth it. Our daughter started gaining weight and eating regular meals with us without choking or gagging. Two months in and she is now starting to say more words and the exercises in her mouth are super easy. I wish we would have known about TTT sooner, thank you so much!”

“My interest in breastfeeding peaked at a very young age and continued to grow with the excitement of having my own babies someday. While breastfeeding my firstborn child turned out to be quite a simple experience, when I gave birth to my son it was a different story. He was almost ten pounds at birth. He continued to have good weight gain, but while continuing to breastfeed, I developed mastitis three times in my first year and two more times in my second year. I learned that he had significant oral restrictions and my experience as a mother inspired me to learn more to educate patients on how to improve feeding as a whole.

A primary focus of my practice as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is helping families by providing information and helping with feeding techniques, whether breastfeeding or bottle feeding. I am proud to be a member of the San Diego Postpartum Health Alliance where I support families through perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am able to care for families from the first hour of life where feeding begins, during the breastfeeding journey, and through the end of the weaning process. I look forward to meeting your family, listening to your story, and supporting you with compassionate care.”

“My path to working with families and babies began in 2012 when I assisted my first birth- my dog delivered 7 healthy puppies with me by her side. Later that same year after attending my goddaughter’s birth, it was like a light in me was turned on. I was hooked and knew I needed to change careers. I went on to become a registered nurse, certified lactation consultant, and attended additional trainings in craniosacral therapy for adults, children, and infants. My experience as a bedside postpartum nurse has given me the opportunity to support families during the start of a huge life transition. At Team Tongue Tie I provide lactation education and craniosacral therapy. This allows me the pleasure of continuing to support and educate families and babies as they learn to breast/bottle feed together.”

What are tongue ties?

Friends and family are asking, now you become the expert!

Everyone has a tongue tie.  The question we should be asking is if the tongue tie is restricting the function of the tongue muscle. The tie itself is a small band of tissue (a frenulum) that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth. It is made of collagenous fiber that does not stretch.  The tissues and muscles around the tie may stretch to accommodate the ties, but the actual tie does not stretch.  It should be located in the middle of the tongue and connect to the middle of the mouth floor. The tongue is attached to 8 different muscles under the floor of the mouth. If the attachment is too far forward or too tight then the tongue cannot function properly. People often refer to this abnormality as being "tongue tied." Fun fact, the technical name for tongue tie is ankyloglossia.

Also, lil disclaimer, the second photo is a prime shot of a tongue tie and that tool doesn’t hurt, but it might feel tight 🤪
