🧧 May 19 is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
Today, we honor and uplift AAPI communities by raising our voices to break stigma, increase visibility, and promote health equity—especially for AAPI LGBTQ+ individuals who often face unique challenges around acceptance, mental health, and access to care. We see you. We stand with you.
📊 Did you know?
While AAPIs represent a smaller proportion of HIV diagnoses in the U.S., they are the only racial group with a steady increase in new HIV cases.
• Nearly 2 in 3 AAPI individuals living with HIV don’t know their status
• Cultural stigma, language barriers, and limited access to care often delay testing and treatment
💬 Talking about s*x, identity, and HIV is still taboo in many AAPI households. That’s why culturally informed education and outreach are vital.
Knowledge is power—so let’s break the silence and change the narrative.
🛡️ HIV is preventable and treatable. Take action today:
• Get tested regularly
• Use PrEP or PEP for prevention
• Know your status
• Seek culturally competent care and support
Let’s celebrate life unfiltered—by protecting ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.
The Center offers FREE HIV testing, STI screenings, and more.
