The light waits at the edge of my vision, brilliant and unforgiving. If I open my eyes too wide, it scorches what it reveals, leaving only afterimages and ache. Truth, in its fullness, is not gentle—it demands more sight than I know how to hold.

Yet when I close my eyes, there is only darkness, a silence so complete it erases even the questions. No pain, no clarity—just the absence of seeing. Safety, perhaps, but also emptiness.

So I linger in the narrow place between, eyes half-open, learning the slow art of becoming able to see.
