He started his career in complementary medicine in 1982 at the Macrobiotic Health center of Vermont providing Shiatsu Massage and cooking instruction. In 1984 he joined a physical therapist practice providing shiatsu massage to patients in various rehab stage. In 1986 Jo moved to San Diego to attend acupuncture school. He graduated in 1989. Costa heath spa and a busy chiropractic clinic. From 1991 to 1993 he joined the Bob Smith Medical Group and provided acupuncture services to the clinic’s HIV clientele. In 1992 he established Vital Point for Acupuncture and Massage where he practices to this day. Jo joined PCOM as a clinical supervisor in 1998. He participated in the development of the geriatric clinic as well as developed an observation shift at UCSD’s Owen clinic. Food as medicine and cooking are a passion for him. He holds a degree in culinary art.
