NURSE'S APPRECIATION EVENT!

It was really fun
to be invited to participate in
this lovely event and showcase
my women's health & hormone
practice - as an alumna
of
this week!

I loved chatting
with other alumni, some
of whom graduated in the 1980's
when the NP career still was not
very common!

I continue to marvel
at the many pathways
that led me to where
I am today, and the
incredible people that
I continue to cross paths with.

Cheers to nurses everywhere,
and to the people that
love and support us every day.
And to our patients:
we SEE you, we HEAR you,
we BELIEVE you.

FRUSTRATED and
PANICKING
over the estradiol patch
shortage?

There are wonderful,
under-utilized options
that may be easier to
obtain currently.

1. Estradiol gel:
in daily packets or in a pump
(i love this!)

2. Evamist:
daily spray on your arm

3. Oral estradiol pills:
inexpensive, easy, lowers cholesterol.
very few true absolute contraindications if
you are approved for transdermal estradiol
by your provider.

I hope this helps!
As always, your personalized
plan is a conversation between
you and your own provider and
there ARE individual risk factors to
look at why one formulation may
be more appropriate for you
than another.
This post is not meant as personal
medical advice, merely to provide
you information on possible
alternatives for your
estradiol needs.

If you can't find
patches, there are
other options! Don't despair :)

High functioning your
whole life
but now the systems and
organization methods
that you've relied on
for decades are
failing you?

Or your motivation
is at an all time low
and now you beat yourself
up about being "lazy"
or wonder if you
are depressed?

This is SO common
during perimenopause
and could be that you
either have undiagnosed ADHD
or your ADHD is being heavily
influenced and becoming
more problematic
due to your fluctuating
and declining hormones.

Your current medications
may need dose adjustments
(done under appropriate
medical guidance of course).

Your hormones could probably
use some evaluation and correcting.

And sometimes, we also have
to start a bit more
delegating of tasks, and let
some of that decision making
fall on other shoulders :)

There's REAL physiologic
changes behind the way you
are feeling and behaving.
Don't despair! this is a
recognized "symptom" of
midlife and there are strategies
and treatment options that
make a huge difference!

comment "ADHD" below
and I'll send you my blog article
that I wrote
specifically for you
peri/menopause ladies!

Are GLP-1's right for YOU?

GLP-1's are "all the rage"
but are they safe,
effective,
and who is an appropriate
candidate to be on them?

How should they
be administered?
What are the main side-effects?
Do I need to be on them
forever once I start?

Asking these questions
is SO important.
Weight loss, especially
during perimenopause
needs to be done
in a way that will
preserve your muscle mass
and thereby helping
prevent bone and hair loss.

Next Steps you can take to
learn if GLP-1's are a good
option for you:

1. Read "Weightless" by Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen

2. Consult a provider who is knowledgeable
with the hormone & metabolic shifts during perimenopause,
the guidelines and best practices for care.

3. In the meantime, optimize protein intake,
strength training as appropriate, stress management,
and optimal sleep.

Interested in learning more?
Schedule a call! I'm happy to discuss
your options.

As always,
Yours in health and hormones,
Helen πŸ’œ

πŸ’₯RISK vs BENEFIT

This is a crucial,
obligatory, ethical
part of a provider's
medical care.

A person's right to
choose what treatments
they want after an
informed discussion
is absolutely, 100%
on THEM.

As women, we have
the RIGHT to not only
informed discussions,
but also the RIGHT
to choose what care
sounds best to us.

I am passionate, yes.
Knowledgeable, yes.
HOPEFUL that you will
choose the best options,
but ultimately, MY job
is to provide the information
and then let YOU make
that choice.

When I see a woman with
SEVERE stage osteoporosis,
I KNOW what is the best
medical option for her
bones. The risk for fractures
is HIGH and it is REAL.
Spinal compression fractures
are not fun. I saw a lot
of them as a geriatric NP.

This is just one reason
I started MIDLIFE care for women.
To help as many women as possible
establish PREVENTATIVE practices
to avoid osteoporosis, urosepsis,
vaginal atrophy, cardiovascular disease, etc.

I don't like to take
prescriptions drugs either,
but I am incredibly grateful
to have the privilege
of access to them if needed.

Prevention is always best,
and if that's not on the table,
make sure you are getting the
best, evidence-based data out
there from a provider who is
up to date on the latest research.

As always,
your in health and hormones,
Helen πŸ’œ

All we want sometimes is
a very clear path forward.
A guide to point us
in the right direction.

As a perimenopausal woman
myself, I find the decision fatigue,
exhaustion, work overload
keeps my brain fired up and I
embrace that space where I just
have a plan laid out for me
and I don't have to
FIGURE IT ALL OUT ON MY OWN.

Going to the gym is one of those spaces for me.
I relish someone "telling me what to do"
and that the planning is done FOR me.

My partner is SO good
at planning out our itinerary for
our trips abroad.
I just don't have
the time or mental capacity
to do this.
I get the joys of discovery
without the brain BURN OUT.

What this means for YOU here
is that I "get you". 😌
I've even been creating separate
TL;DR after-visit summaries
for my women :)
Checking in.
Creating a plan that moves you
forward at your own pace.

Getting started is even more
simple. Book a call, see if we are a good fit.
Then, start your journey with an
initial consulation and let's
get you going
towards your goals.

Whether your looking to sleep better,
calm that irritation down,
increase your libido, or
just feel more like yourself,
the first step is just to start. πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

I've made it easy for you.
The link to chat with me is in my bio πŸ‘†
or on my website.

Thank you for my beautiful V***A!

I can't wait to start using this (today!) for my patient visits 😁

My poor man who has to deal with my ever increasing feminizing office at home (or is he actually really LUCKY to have vulvas lying around πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰)
