SDCDS members traveled to Washington, DC from March 22–24 for Lobby Day 2026, advocating for the issues shaping dentistry and patient care. Throughout the visit, members engaged with federal leaders, including meeting with Congressman Darrell Issa, gained insight into key policy topics, and helped ensure that the voice of San Diego dentistry is represented at the national level.

Interested in getting involved? Joining the Legislative Committee is a great place to start and a way to take part in advocacy efforts like Lobby Day. We are always looking for members ready to step into leadership and advocacy opportunities.

Dr. Raja has been dedicated to giving back through initiatives like Give Kids A Smile, bringing care directly to local schools each February for Children’s Dental Health Month.

Her work spans from San Diego to Ensenada and beyond, supporting communities through school visits, health fairs, and outreach programs. As Dr. Raja shared, she likes to think of these as “Smiles from Kids” events, because of the love and appreciation shared by the children.

🚨 Important Public Health Update for Dental Professionals

The Olivenhain Municipal Water District Board is currently considering a decision that could eliminate community water fluoridation at the David C. McCollom Water Treatment Plant. If approved, this change could have significant oral health implications for communities across North San Diego County.

As dental professionals, we understand the critical role that community water fluoridation plays in preventing tooth decay and improving oral health outcomes—especially for vulnerable populations. Now is the time for our professional voices to be heard.

We encourage members of the San Diego County Dental Society to reach out to the Olivenhain Municipal Water District Board to respectfully share your perspective and strongly encourage them to maintain community water fluoridation for the health of our communities.
