New office in Banker’s Hill! Yay!

I’ve been looking for a new office for years and am so excited to have moved closer to my home, 2 blocks from Balboa Park, and have a space that is big enough for small groups! I’m still doing all telehealth, but am looking forward to the opportunities this will offer in the future!

When we step into our oldest wisest parts, then we find the capacity to provide for, protect, and nurture, our children and our younger selves. Sometimes it’s hard to remember who the adult in the room is, so often younger parts of us jump in the driver’s seat. The role of the adult is to nurture, protect, and provide for. If you only got one or none of these things from your caregiver, it may be nearly impossible to imagine how to step into adulthood. Being an adult is balancing these things and extending them not only to all children in your life, but the children inside of you. 💜

There have been some great releases lately that are worth a mention to get communication, connection, and intimacy back into your relationship. First, I’m recommending a read (or watch on HBO Max), Brene Brown’s Atlas of the Heart will help with recognizing emotion, communicating, and building understanding. Second, a listen to Romance Roadtest, a podcast on Audible that will help get the ideas flowing for some date nights to reignite and build connection. Third, How to build a S*x Room on Netflix will get you talking about what you like and don’t like in intimacy. Communication, connection, and intimacy help create a safe and fulfilling relationship and these recommendations may give you a few ideas on how to foster each. Enjoy! 🦋

Sometimes. . .

Hurting others is a result of trauma.

Not being able to emotionally connect with others is a result of trauma.

Not being able to see others as human with emotions and needs just like your own is a result of trauma.

Believing you need a weapon to keep yourself safe is a result of trauma.

Needing to please every member of your community and being afraid to stand up for what is right is a result of trauma.

Being selfish about your rights and not thinking about the common good is a result of trauma.

Feeling helpless and thinking that nothing can be done is a result of trauma.

Someone killing your classmate, sibling, parent, other family member, or friend, causes childhood trauma. Having a shooting at your school causes trauma.

Having a shooting in your town and community causes trauma.

Take care, acknowledge, heal.

Most of us have trauma. Heal it so we can all heal.
