This picture was taken just a month before my 70th birthday. I'm 5'2" tall. Decades ago, my weight fluctuated between 126 to 135 pounds at a time when raising a child, and working my career, commuting to work 2:5 hours a day left little time for rest and self-care. I had also developed chronic asthma from the stress of my lifestyle. One night, I almost died from a severe asthma attack. After that, I was determined to make changes to regain my health. I started working out at a gym, I took up tennis lessons, and incorporated healthy eating habits. Over the years, the weight came off gradually - plateauing at 118 to 121 pounds. As I got smarter about nutrtion and exercise, my weight decreased to 115ish and finally, I am at my ideal weight - 111 pounds. I currently do intermittent fasting and strive to get close to 90 to 100 grams of protein daily. My abdomen has flattened and muscles on my arms have developed. I feel great at 70!
Someone asked me how I flattened my abs. Well, It's not just one thing. I've been taking a hip-hop (Like Zumba) class for two years but it wasn't until I started counting calories again - sticking to the Jeor-Mifflin formula of 500 calorie deficit a day to lose 1 pound a week, intermittent fasting (17 to 18 hour fasting window, eliminate bread and sugar, eat as close to 100 grams of protein per day, and eat lots of vegetables, and three servings of fruit per day. Limit starchy carbs to 100 calories per meal. I only eat two meals a day and I only drink wine/alcohol once in a blue moon. I limit desserts to small quantities on special Occasions only like birthdays, anniversary, Val's Day, a couple of holidays, etc.
