😆 😆 THIS QUOTE 😆 😆 about going to therapy from by 💀😂

➡️As a “professional,” of course it’s my hope that you’ll be truthful with me, but therapists are aware that our clients are not always 100% transparent, especially in the beginning. And that’s okay.

💜It’s actually understandable! I might be a professional but I’m still a stranger, so it might take a minute for you to feel comfortable and for us to establish a level of trust when we first get started. Clients often leave out certain painful details, minimize problems, or wait a little while to talk about difficult past events. It’s okay. It’s a thing. We totally get it.

☝🏼But! I hope that you won’t hesitate to clarify things once you’re ready to talk about whatever *it* is, even though you might feel awkward. Good therapists won’t shame you when you reveal info you previously kept under wraps.

👏🏻If you’re ready to “start lying to a professional,” 😜 let’s chat! I start with a free 15 min consult call. Link in bio

💜This is how we get to self-compassion. Non-judgmental curiosity. It’s also how we get to the other kind of compassion - the one we apply to others. Ask questions. Genuinely wonder why. Ask how. See what you can learn.

💜Understanding doesn’t mean approval. Compassion doesn’t equal endorsement. You’ll just get a lot farther with kindness. Not just with others, but with yourself too.

💜You probably have a voice, a soundtrack, an internal critic that gets in the way of this. That’s pretty human. Although it’s worse for some who’ve been in abusive or high-control (religious) environments. It’s never going completely away, but you can learn to tame that voice and put it in its place.

😱This is exciting, and mildly terrifying, to share. I was featured on a podcast! Thank you to for making my experience so easy. He got me talking all about my life and history, including topics like the church, sexuality, becoming a therapist, purity culture, , , the difference between deconversion and deconstruction, why mission trips are more for the missionary than the “saved,” and lots more. Link in bio.
P.S. We still need to resume watching Foundation! 😆

🗣️🗣️🗣️IT’S OKAY TO CRY!!!
In honor of , I invite you to help me normalize crying. Good mental health is largely about tolerating, effectively expressing, and caring for our emotions, not eliminating or hiding them.
So… Let’s STOP apologizing for our tears. We all have them. Let’s stop calling it “breaking down.” WE AREN’T BROKEN! 💜💜💜

🟪 I am EXCITED to share that I was recently interviewed for an article about learning to believe in yourself.
🟪 It was kind of funny to read the article containing the words I’d said a month or so earlier, because they came at a time that *I* actually needed to hear them. 🤷🏻‍♀️
🟪 EVERYONE struggles with this issue at one time or another. But we can also all get better at believing in ourselves.
