In August 2018, I relocated my practice to the community of Scripps Ranch. I did this because my vision was always to be apart of a community where I can be a resource to the families and businesses in the area. I grew up in the Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch area.. I went to Hage Elementary, Wagentheim Middle School and graduated from Scripps Ranch High School. Growing up I had no idea what a chiropractor was or how it could help out. No one in my family or extended family mentioned seeing or knowing what a chiropractor was either (And I come from a large Filipino family).
It wasn’t until my third year at UC-Irvine where I was finally introduced to the profession. It wasn’t because of an injury or accident that led me to a chiropractic office in Irvine, it was pure curiosity. Weeks earlier I took a career assessment test, an evaluation to help direct me to future career paths. The results from that test pointed out jobs like: nurse, paramedic, medical doctor, dentist, fire fighter, park ranger and chiropractor. Due to the fact that I had no idea what a chiropractor was, I reached out to chiropractors nearby the university. One chiropractor allowed me to visit his office to shadow him and allow me to pick his brain. In our first interaction, he explained to me that he absolutely loved his job because he got sick people well without the use of drugs or surgery and that he was able to do well enough to make a good living. I also had the opportunity to ask his patients why they came to him and what they enjoyed about their chiropractic care. All of his patients said he changed their lives! They all tried a variety of things and nothing worked for them.
I began to do more research on the chiropractic profession and learned that the goal of chiropractic care is not to treat symptoms but to work with the body so that it can heal itself much more efficiently. By removing interference from the nervous system it will help optimize life expression and allow the body to move, function and heal better. The byproduct of that is less pain, better sleep, more energy, less stress, improved range of motion and improved quality of life. Get to the root cause of the issue instead of masking it with pain medication. I have many family members that are dentists, so an analogy someone mentioned to me about chiropractic care was this, “you can brush and floss to address a tooth ache but if the issue is due to a cavity, all the brushing and flossing will help you buy more time (i.e: medication, massage, stretching) but its not addressing the root cause which is the cavity (i.e: subluxation/nerve irritation).
Fast forward to today, 7 years in practice and adjusting more than tens of thousand of spines now, I’ve seen the power of chiropractic care and the power of the human body. I’ve seen first hand miracles everyday... people with years of headaches, migraines, neck pain, lower back pain, sciatic pain, etc... go away through chiropractic care. I’ve helped people avoid surgery and get off their medication. I’ve helped women during their pregnancy become more comfortable and help balance their pelvis to allow for an easier birth process. I’ve adjusted kids and babies, removing nerve irritation so that they can continue to thrive instead of just getting by. My greatest joy is hearing people able do things they couldn’t do prior to seeing me. I moved back to the community grew up in to help families who are in need. Who also didn’t know anything about chiropractors. To help people not only get out of pain, but to help people get healthy and stay healthy so that they can continue to live their best life possible...
