And that’s a wrap!
Yesterday, our very first group of nursing students from North West college completed their internship program at NeuroRestorative San Dimas. 🩺🧠🥼

The 10-student cohort has spent the last 4 weeks gaining hands-on experience caring for our neuro patients with guided mentorship, network opportunities, and professional development. For nursing students hoping to work in competitive specialties, networking and practical experience can increase their chances of landing a job in their desired specialty. 🧬
The passion and devotion of our nursing students speak volumes about their character. Congratulations to everyone who completed the program! 👏👏

Research continues to support the importance of exercise in the rehabilitation of brain injury patients. Participation in a program with even mild aerobic exercise will promote neuron connections and recovery. The brain is able to form new synapses between neurons, prompting neuroplasticity in brain injured patients.
If you have been searching for the best inpatient neuro rehab, then you or your loved one can benefit from the services we provide at NeuroRestorative San Dimas. Exercise is just one component of what we offer to ensure a successful recovery from brain injury. We encourage you to reach out to learn more about our facility and programs. We look forward to being a part of your recovery!

The other day, we had an amazing time at the nail salon! Alongside, our awesome therapists and interdisciplinary staff, we brought 3-4 of our inpatients to the nail salon for a day of relaxing self-care. This outing is not just about fun; it’s about empowering our patients and their families to further explore their new found independence out in the community in a safe environment. Community reintegration is key at NeuroRestorative San Dimas to providing the continuum of services from inpatient back into the community for patients with brain injury and spinal cord injury. The goal of our program is to provide transitional care for patients while overcoming stigmas, finding support in their community, and making new connections.

Here’s a fun session that challenges the patient to work on single limb balance, coordination, and memory recall. Alternating between bilateral lower extremities to kick the cones when the color is called out. This patient is new to the facility, so we can’t wait to see all of the improvements she will make when she is ready to take the next step. Follow us to stay updated on the journey! 💪

⭐️ Meet The Staff ⭐️

Ruskshani Perera has been with the company for 7 years. Rukshani credits her late grandmother for her reason to become a nurse. Rukshani’s grandmother was a midwife and nurse for many years. May is mental health month 🧠⚕️Emotional changes are more common than not when it comes to TBI’s. Let’s talk about ways you can make your mental health a priority when you have a traumatic brain injury.

· Social connections are essential for our mental health. It’s important to make an effort to stay in touch with friends and family. You can also join a club or organization that aligns with your interests to meet new people and expand your social circle. At NeuroRestorative San Dimas, we always make sure to include group community outings and other social events to nurture those connections.
· Make time for yourself. Practicing relaxation techniques is a powerful way to improve your mental wellness. Take time each day to take scheduled breaks, listen to music, or play your favorite game or puzzle. Sometimes shifting your focus on a structured activity can help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.
· Focus on the positive. Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to improve your mental wellness. Take time each day to reflect on the things you're grateful for, whether it's a supportive friend or a beautiful sunset. By focusing on the positive, you can shift your mindset and improve your overall well-being.
· Setting boundaries is an important part of maintaining good mental health. Learn to say no to things that don't align with your values or priorities, whether it's a social event or a work obligation. By prioritizing your own needs and boundaries, you can reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. On the other hand, do not be afraid to try new things!

Each quarter, our company celebrates employees for their dedication to the individuals we serve. For 2023, they asked for examples of employees who represent at least one of our four company values: integrity, respect, inclusion, and growth.

This quarter the company chose to recognize one of our very own LVN’s, Luana Alford, for exemplifying our core values. “Luana advocates for the individual’s well-being and provides exceptional care, among other things, during a period of high pressure and extreme expectations. Luana demonstrates exceptional leadership, compassion, and humanity. Without question, Luana is the type of nurse who you would always want on your team and deserves a Hero nomination.” - Blake Erban, Program Director.
Thank you Luana for your passion & dedication to our patients. 💜🩺
