During my morning walk I noticed this commercial building. It's a great example of WHY you want to visit the property you are considering purchasing during off hours.
If you were considering purchasing the commercial property as a buyer you need to factor in the added utility costs of lighting the parking lots throughout the night. This could be a HUGE hidden cost.
On the other hand, if you were thinking of purchasing one of the neighboring residential properties you realize that you will live somewhere that never really gets dark. This could be an ENORMOUS hit to the resale value of your home.
The point of this post is to let you know that prior to making an offer on a piece of real estate, and during the inspection periods of your escrow term, it pays to visit the property you're considering purchasing to see if you can live with the neighborhood quirks like this lit parking lot.
